After debating a long time and reading lots of reviews, I finally went out and purchased Dr. Scholl's custom-fit orthotics yesterday. (There is a $10 rebate.) I used the machine at Wal-Mart to determine my fit. I came up as a 410 (low arches with high pressure). Uh...I resent that "high pressure" part. Is that a nice way to say I am overweight? (I can just hear the hosts now, "This pant would be perfect for all you 'high pressure' gals!") Anyway, I went out walking after I got my new orthotics. They really supported my arches great. It felt good. Usually after walking too long, I get a lower back ache, which goes up my spine, neck, and then a headache. Didn't happen yesterday. I am just wondering if anyone else has purchased these and how long they last? Thanks!

Not sure how long they are supposed to last...but I've had mine more than 7 months. I use them in all my 'normal' shoes. They have helped me a great deal and I no longer have pains at night or painful walking in the morning. I do not wear shoes inside the house. I wear my orthotic flip flops inside. So my 7 months is not every DAY wear. And...I paid full price . I'm not as good a shopper as you. We got her a pair of Dr. Scholl's custom fit orthotics and they have made a huge difference for her. She can stand much more comfortably now. Well worth the $$$$$. I figured if I went to a podiatrist, I would have a couple of copays at least, and that would cover the cost of the Dr. Scholl's custom orthotics. So far...love them! Glad to hear they last. The clerk at Wal-Mart asked me to report back how well they work as her feet were killing her from standing all day! I'll give her a positive report on the orthotics. Thanks again!
lizzys1338830458.223207 PostsRegistered 11/16/2011 I bought a pair at Bed, Bath and Beyond over the weekend with a coupon. I haven't used them yet. My husband loves them and just bought a second pair so he doesn't have to switch them when he changes shoes. Tabby - I got custom orthotics from my podiatrist last summer. I rarely, if ever, wear them because they are the shorter kind made for dress shoes. So, they go from the heel to my arch. Well, I have a neuroma in my toe area, so there is no support there for me at all. I am supposed to wear an insert over top of them so that they are more comfortable and don't flop. ?????? They were $385!! I would not buy orthotics like this again. I take complete responsibility because she showed me what they would look like, but until I experienced them, I didn't really get it. I should have gotten the ones for sneakers - they are full size. Also, they made the measurements/mould for them while I was in terrible pain with the neuroma, so I don't think I was walking or standing normally at the time. Oh well, that money is gone. I have tried my daughter's Dr. Scholl's and they feel great. Next time I will get those for myself or go to Foot Solutions store for a pair.... I have custom orthotics I got fropm the podiatrist many years ago - they cost $350 back about 10 years ago. They cured my planter fascitis but I ended up still needing surgery for the severe arthritis in my foot. I might eventually get custom orthotics, but Dr. Scholl's are nice for now.
