Do celebrities have their own private Facebook page?

Started 1281203623 in Viewpoints | Last reply 1281328334.303 by RubyinNE

I've noticed that most well known celebrities and hosts have Facebook pages for the public, but do they have REAL Facebook pages for just close friends and family, too? Do they make up a name to use and post there? I wouldn't want the world posting on MY page.

I would think they use facebook as a marketing/publicity tool.

If they have a second page, it would be set to very private!

They can use their stage names on one and their real/family names on the other.

I doubt it, they spend 1/2 their lives avoiding the paparazzi why would they give them another tool to "expose them" the media would find out about the private pages

Some do. Two of my long time favorite celebs have FB pages and actually post and reply to posts. They even mobile upload pics just before shows while on tour. They do not do it every day or even every week...but they do it at least once or twice a month.

We have the celebs we work with and represent on F/B. All have Friend and Fan pages. It's a fantastic marketing/publicity tool. They also tweeter.

And they do interact with their fans. At least the ones we work with do. We make sure of that.Cool

Yes, in addition to their "fan" page, some do have an actual facebook page reserved for friends and family. I am a friend of a friend of a celeb, and just for the heck of it sent the celeb a friend request and he accepted. I now see photos of him, his wife, their intimate wedding photos and pics of the christening of their new baby along with other personal info he exclusively shares with only his "friends".

The Op is asking whether they have personal Facebook pages, not public ones used to post updates to their fans. Smile

Most certainly it would be a private setting one -

I am most amazed that people on these BB seem to boast of being a "friend" with a host on this Facebook. I do find it disconcerting that one would imagine to be a host friend.

People "boast" about being friends with the hosts? {#emotions_dlg.glare}

I've noticed some celebs have two pages.....one for fans, and one that seems to be for family and friends.

On the family and friends page, you have to ask them to friend you, I guess if they don't recognize you, they won't respond.....

On the page that's open to everyone, you simply have the option to "like" the page, you don't show up as one of their friends.....

Edited to add: DD says there is a privacy setting so that if someone searches for you, your page doesn't come up.....therefore family and friends would have to link to the page through each other.....

Thanks for all of your responses. You would think they'd have their own pages just like any normal person. (If you are into Face Book.) I have a Face Book page, but don't do a whole lot with it. My DD made me do it. : ) I much rather write a personal letter, talk to someone on the phone or see my friends in person.
