How long does it take for wine to boil into a syrup?

I am making red wine poached pears...and the wine is supposed to boil down in half and make a sauce.

It's been 30 minutes...

Any ideas???

Medium high heat, should be 15-20 minutes.

They are going on top of field greens, along with glazed pecans and crumbled Gorgonzola cheese.

I just finished making a shrimp scampi appetizer. I needed to reduce the wine and lemon juice by 1/2. I cooked it over a pretty high flame and it took maybe 5 minutes.

Happy Thanksgiving!
