If you eat Thanksgiving out, where do you go. Restaurant-wise, not grandma's.

Thinking one year out might be an experience for next year, I may want to go to. Never thought I'd say that. Anyway, where does one go (in a restaurant) for a great Thanksgiving meal?

We're serving turkey with all the trimmings at our church on Thanksgiving Day. The meal is open to anyone who wants to come to the family life center and delivery meals are made to shut-ins. We've done this for many, many years. Smile

Last year we gathered at Mimi's Cafe (French) and had a delicious turkey dinner.

We've hit Cracker Barrel on the way traveling during Thanksgiving Day and weekend.

There's been a few times we've stopped at Mickey D's on the toll roads, too. {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

You'll need to do some checking to see what local restaurants in your town are serving special Thanksgiving meals, and what appeals to you and is in your desired price range. We've gone out a number of times, always somewhere different. We often find a good holiday buffet. We always go to local establishments, not a chain.

If we go out for a holiday dinner we usually go to our country club. Carolina Country Club. We usually have holiday dinners at home but we have gone there a couple of times and it is great. They have so many wonderful desserts and meats. Great prime rib, turkey, ham all sorts of sides, salads and delicious desserts. We have gone there for Easter and Mothers Day a couple of times.

We did this back in 1984 to Luby's Cafeteria and then back to my sister-in-laws for a ton of dessert and coffee. We never did it again she admitted it was a bad mistake. No leftovers for anyone.

That night when my husband (her brother) got home we had to heat up frozen pizza rolls for a snack since there were no take home leftovers like all families usually divide out.

We still give her a hard time about that year trying to save work for all of us. I will have to remind her again tomorrow when we are creating our to go Tupperware.

We got to a local casino. They have a feast for $9. You can't beat it.

This is one major reason why we don't like to eat out for Thanksgiving. About 7 or 8 yrs ago we went to our country club and they had the dinner set up where they gave you a to go baggie so you could take home leftovers. It so wasn't the same. After that we decided to always have Thanksgiving at home.
