In my family, Thanksgiving takes priority over any shopping activity.

I hadn't even noticed.

The fewer people who participate, the less successful this sort of endeavor becomes. So, I guess the bottom line will be that if a lot of people participate (and, while I wouldn't on a bet, I imagine a LOT of people will), then it will continue because it's lucrative.

I'd just try to not let it get in the way of my own personal comfort. Smiley Happy

As much as people biss and moan about how early stores will be open on t-day, I can guarantee that people will be out shopping.

That's just the way it is now, and it isn't going to go back to where everything is closed on holidays. Sorry, but those days are over, gone, history, finito.

As for the salespeople having to work that day, they knew that working on holidays was a very real possibility when they took the job. Some sales people actually want to work that day for a little extra $.

So, the world isn't going to end just because stores are open and people are out shopping on t-day.

I 100% agree with Plaid Pants....there will be people out shopping....if there was no demand to open stores then they would not be open....the only way to end stores opening on major hoilidays is for ALL people to NOT shop.

Let's face it....once Sunday shopping became the norm it was just a matter of time before the other few remaining days (major holidays like Thanksgiving and Xmas) became a normal shopping day too.

Some will open at 1:00 PM, others at 2:00 pm, many at 4:00 pm Thanksgiving Day.

The mom and pop stores and 7-11's will be open for business as usual. They are owned by immigrants who reply on sales for their livelihood so staying open for business is how they survive.
