Calling babies by their names before they're born

What do you think about this trend? I'm trying to adjust, but having a name selected at the "baby gender reveal" party when the mom has a way to go - I'm not sure. DD has a friend who is constantly talking to her pregnant belly and calling it by name in public. I know we've all seen this before, even here at QVC, but I just think this should be between the future mom and dad only. What if you decide to change the name at the last minute for some reason?

If they want to call their baby by it's name........I'm good with that.......personally, I never had the confirmed, this is what we're calling the baby until I laid eyes on their little face.......then the right name came to me, the one that fit............................raven

So you change the name, who cares? I know babies have been mistakenly referred to as a girl or boy when they were not. No biggie, surprise switch to plan #2.

I think it's fine. Really, what's the problem?

Why would anyone care? It's their business.

Call me superstitious, but I could never do that.

My first was "Libra the Lump" and the second we referred to as "Leo the Lump" . Guess you can guess when they were born. Smile

I've never seen anyone do that but it sounds very nice. Very sweet. So what if they decide on another name after the baby comes....what would it matter?

Calling the baby by its expected name doesn't seem so odd; it's the gender reveal party that is a bit much IMO

I see nothing wrong with it.
