Re: WITH EVERYTHING BEING MADE IN CHINA.....

Everything (almost) from A to Z that used to be made here is made there............including plastic food storage containers that proudly stated 'Made in USA'. (Just ran across a sealed set.)

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

Re: WITH EVERYTHING BEING MADE IN CHINA.....

The economy in China has slowed down considerably.

Workers are unionizing and protesting miserable work conditions.

People can't be put down and made to work like slaves forever!

Re: WITH EVERYTHING BEING MADE IN CHINA.....

A bit of info about workers in China...

Since 2001, the United States has lost 2.8 million manufacturing jobs to China -- that despite U.S. factory workers being far more productive.

Partly, it can be explained by China's cheaper workers: The average hourly wage for Chinese manufacturing workers is less than a tenth that of their average U.S. counterparts, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

It being about twice as cheap to live in China, those lower Chinese wages go further. But Chinese factory workers also tend to work longer hours, making them more appealing to some employers.

U.S. factory workers do have one critical advantage over others: They're really productive. In fact, U.S. factory workers produce $73.45 per hour in output, one-third more than German factory workers and twice as much as workers in Taiwan, according to the BLS. That's in part because U.S. workers still tend to build more expensive products than someone in Taiwan, such as airplanes instead of shoes, Brookings labor economist Gary Burtless said.

Chinese and U.S. workers differ in another important respect as well. Factory workers in China are more than three times more likely to get killed at work than their American counterparts, and the government's health insurance programs do not cover basic care.

German factory workers, on the other hand, enjoy a higher quality of life than American manufacturing workers. Their wages are 11 percent higher than those in the U.S. -- largely because their unions are more powerful.

Re: WITH EVERYTHING BEING MADE IN CHINA.....

Just look at everything that is now being made in Vietnam and Afghanistan.

Walmart had 4th of July T shirts with American flags...made in Afghanistan!!!

As the workers in China unite against low wages and poor conditions - manufacturers are just moving on to even poorer countries.

Watch carefully the food you buy. Lots is from China and not considered safe!

Check the packaging.

Re: WITH EVERYTHING BEING MADE IN CHINA.....

My cousin needed a crown in her mouth. It took two weeks to get the final crown back.

She had it in for less than a month and it cracked in two.

Guess what?

It was MADE IN CHINA! That's why it took 2 weeks to get back!!!!

She switched to my dentist - he has the machine that makes the crown in 7 minutes while you wait. It's a little more expensive, but worth it!

Made in Afghanistan? WHAT?!!! Eder Flag Manufacturing Company Inc. is the largest flag AND flagpole company, made in Oak Creek Wisconsin! They have been there for over 100 years too. Why would any company, even Walmart sell that krap. {#emotions_dlg.blink}

Wow! I didn't know a crown could be made in a matter of minutes like that. Sweet!
