How Do You Remove Those Big Tags From Decorative Pillows?

Started 1350333522.52 in Viewpoints | Last reply 1350354920.843 by Noel7

You know, where they're sewn into the piping around the pillow?

This has plagued me for years, there's no way to pick it out with a seam-ripper, so I usually cut it off as close as possible but the tiny line of white still shows.

I have two new gorgeous pillows and those large flapping tags are awful.

Is there some trick to this I just haven't heard about?

I do like you do Noel...cut as close as possible to the seam. Sorry, I don't have a solution.

I remove mine with embroidery scissors. The curve allows me to get really close.

One time, I cut too close and, well... oh, oh!

It's 2012 for cripes sake! Why hasn't someone invented a better way? Put those horrid tags on in a way you can use a seam-ripper and leave no trace.

Thanks, Marp Smile I'll google embroidery scissors to see what I'm looking for. DD has tiny scissors she uses for the kitty, I'm about to give those a try.

If the pillow backing is black or a very dark color, I run a Rub-A-Dub laundry marker across the tag's edge. I usually notice the tags on scarves, too-/

I always cut as far to the seam as possible, without ruining the pillow. I don't have a solution - but, it is always nice to get new decorative pillows. The desired pattern is always on the front with no tag leftover to worry about?

Why don't they attach the tags the same way price tags are attached with the plastic loop things? So much easier to clip the plastic and safely remove the tags.

If you tear the tags off you run the real danger of opening the seam, which I've done. If you cut too closely, well, Noel7 will tell you what happens. If you leave the tags on it's tacky and a certain dog will chew both the tag and the pillow....

Use the plastic loops manufacturers!!!!

Noel,

They may work if the tip is narrow enough. The ones I use are like THESE with a curved tip.

I do, too, with scarves!

The pillows are jewel tone velvet, one is teal and one is burgundy. That might be a good idea and I could use a felt-tip art pen. I get those in a lot of colors and touch up many things, including any Jim Shore that comes with a tiny white spot that wasn't painted over.

A great summary! Especially the part about a certain dog {#emotions_dlg.laugh}

I'll vote for a plastic thingy attachment, so much easier. We need to start a revolution over this.

You know you are right....for years I have been annoyed by those stupid tags on pillows. Ugh!

Oh, Marp, that's perfect! Yes, I like the little ones that curve. I saved the safety baby scissors that curve that I had for my daughter and I still use them.

I have these!! I bought this one years ago when Betty Crocker used to have a mail to the home catalog. Used a lot of their redemption labels to get it too.

Heck no! I don't know how to remove any tags from any pillows. I have never done so as I thought it was against THE LAW! {#emotions_dlg.ohmy}
