Best bag for 6 yr old

Started 1333563170.55 in Vera Bradley | Last reply 1335278483.753 by MSA2004

What is the best type of bag for a 6 yr old? I'm torn b/w the "Frannie" and "Emma". My daughter wanted one in the "Doodle Daisy" pattern. I was going to get her a bag as a reward for her report card. What do you think? Thank you.

I like that the Frannie is cross body so she might not lose it. The Lily is a cute little purse but, like the Emma, it's hand held. My six year old granddaughter has a hipster. It's definitely big on her, but she really likes it. She carries some small toys and her wallet with her. Your daughter is going to love her gift.

The mini hipster might be a good option!! And also there's another smaller crossbody bag they introduced this year, 'Shoot from the Hip'.

The only thing I don't like about Frannie is the lack of pockets, granted it is for a 6 year old but it's never too early to teach organization!

I definitely agree. I love the Lily also but I was also thinking of the mini hipster as perfect in size and not as losable. Give her a big hug for that great report card!

I bought a Frannie for my niece, then I ended up buying another one for myself...it is the perfect small bag when I take our dogs for a walk. It holds my house keys, doggie bags and treats (doggie)Smile and, because it is a crossbody bag, it doesn't get in the way.

I ended up getting her the Frannie in FOLKLORIC instead of DOODLE DAISY. When she saw my Hipster in Folkloric she went wild over the pattern. When the VB site had all Folkloric items 50% off sales price, just couldn't pass it up! I'll save the Doodle Daisy for something else, maybe the "Lily" bag. She likes that bag too.

My daughter LOVES her Frannie in Folkloric! She carries it around everywhere she can. She wears it crossbody. It's adorable! She thinks she's "Big Stuff" because she has a bag like her Mom....LOL!

The first one that I thought of was the "Frannie" bag. I have a six year old granddaughter and thought about getting it for her for Easter and the little coin bag for her three yr. old sister so she would not feel left out.

Six year olds carry bags?

Oh my yes!!!! Welcome to the New Generation. They go from 6 to 18 within 90 seconds......LOL!!! They love little purses, totes, messanger bags (for school). My daughter loves to draw, so she always carries a tote bag to hold her notepad, pencil, and crayons.

Poppet1, I think its cute that they love to carry their own bags with their "stuff" in it. My granddaughter always has since she was real young also.

I got a great deal on my daughter's Frannie. Because it was in a pattern that is being retired, it was on sale then the VB site had an additional sale added to the already marked down bag. I ended up only paying $13 for it. Thought that was a steal!

Thanks, Pepper22 - I think it's nice too plus it helps keep them organized.{#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

.......they do learn to be fashionista's at a very young age. Are 6 year olds wearing heels now? I'm not being facetious, I've seen Katie Holmes daughter wearing shoes with heels. I wonder if that's what they are all into now. I know they are getting mani/pedis because Sunday mornings the nail shop I go to is full of little ones.

I have a 6 year old and her brain instantly recognizes patterns. Usually it is math or sequentional number or letter patterns. Well, you may know what's about to come next. One day she saw me cruising the vera website and deciding on what to get, joined in the fun and decision making, and the very next time we were out she is recognizing VB patterns on everyone walking around, calling them out by pattern name. Kids have the best memories! She was very taken with Blue Lagoon, so for Christmas, I got her the big duffle and a clear toiletry matching bag, for when we travel. You should have just seen her delight on Christmas morning, when she unwrapped those, and now gets to be just like Momma when she travels.

fuji, I love this!!! It's amazing how great some minds are. I love going to a mall or store and just seeing the different VB bags & patterns. They are extremely popular in my area of the country!!

I have the Blue Lagoon in the weekender, small duffel, & cosmetic bag. That pattern is so pretty. I bet she was so excited to get her own set of VB!!

Now we are going to get back to talking about Vera Bradley bags. That's what this forum was created for.

thank you, Pepper22

Whenever someone writes a very negative or hateful post I look back at their posting history. Wow! It certainly does tell you a lot about that person.

Time to press "ignore" and move on.

Expensive bags for little girls is sending the wrong message - just my opinion, of course.

Little girl purses from Target or KMart should do the trick for a 6 year old. Heck, I wouldn't spend that much on myself. Fashion and style is a look, not a price.

And she's 6 !!!

$13 is "a lot?" There's nothing wrong with Mart bags, but there's nothing wrong with buying something special as a rewards. Especially for 13 bucks!

My husband and I are doing a workshop. He works and I shop!

Kids mimic what they see in adults. I can't imagine taking a 6 year old for a "mani pedi"!! Carrying a purse - I guess if they have "stuff" it's ok. Just hope they don't covet $300 purses by the time they are 12.
