I love to decorate for fall - pumpkins and colored leaves etc but not the ghosts and goblins or even the turkey stuff for Thanksgiving. I usually just do a generic fall decor. i do have a Halloween flag I put out that is a cute witch but I only do that on Halloween day then immediately put up my generic fall flag. I actually love both holidays but just can't get into the decor.

I do still decorate for Halloween but enjoyed it lots more when the kids were little and had grandkids around here. Not as much fun anymore but still enjoy putting out my decorations. I usually put it out around the 1st of Oct and take down right after Halloween. Figure if I am going thru the trouble of putting it up, I am going to enjoy it for awhile. JPC caligrl1344276729.149049 PostsRegistered 7/17/2008 I keep some of my Halloween decor out year round. I have an antique side table that I display a haunted house on. I collect gargoyles so they are on the table too. The haunted house has a light inside, so there is always a night light in my living room In another room in my home, I have a collection of spooky stuff that I don't feel appropriate for the living room GoodStuff1344276743.64311332 PostsRegistered 11/11/2008 It's early August. Aren't you getting a little ahead of the calendar? Halloween is my least labor-intensive decorating holiday. A clay jack o' lantern with a candle inside, a slightly spooky door hanging, a bowl of candy for the kiddies who come to the door.......that's about it. Takes 15 minutes to put up and about the same amount of time to return to storage. TexasMom11344276761.692996 PostsRegistered 7/12/2007 I never did much Halloween decorating until I discovered Jim Shore and his "witches" line, and the Slatkin large Haunted Houses. I decorate my mantel and some shelves in our den. I light up the Haunted Houses using CI flameless candles and add some BL fall garlands for accent. It is such fun, and I really enjoy it. My front porch I pretty much just do Fall flowers and pumpkins, pretty generic. I put mine up October 1st as well. caligrl1344276955.2679049 PostsRegistered 7/17/2008 That sounds beautiful texasmom! decolvr1344277010.1774577 PostsRegistered 2/16/2007 I don't go nuts for Halloween.......I have a few things that are definitely for that holiday. I have a entry hall table that I put a lovely pumpkin that is definitely Halloween looking, I decorate my mantel with a few things and I have a beautiful costumed witch that I put on our DR buffet along with a myriad of pumpkins. After Halloween, down come the six or seven things Halloween related and the rest is all pumpkins and garlands and such. It's not hard for me......LOL. I am a pumpkin addict......big time LOL!! I do mostly fall decorating, but for the week leading up to Halloween I add my Halloween goodies. I have grandchildren and they come to trick or treat in my neighborhood. I like to make sure everyone who comes begging at my house gets to enjoy not just candy but atmosphere. I put a bunch of flameless candles mixed in with my pumpkins, add some jack-o-laterns and I have a 7 ft tall inflatable spooky tree that everyone always wants to take a picture of their kids standing next to it. Halloween night I add spooky sound effects. LOVE the little ones who come around, and even the not-so-little ones. I also have a super gentle 110 pound lab who sits out front with me to hand out treats. He tolerates me putting either a spider costume or glow in the dark skeleton t-shirt on him...as long as he gets a doggie treat now and then. Enjoying my retirement 1 cup of coffee at a time. JusMe1344278306.2532101 PostsRegistered 3/26/2008~* oHIo *~ I absolutely LOVE halloween but my outdoor decorations usually only go up the day before and come down day after... so a total of only 3 days :( It seems to be what all the neighbors do so I figured they might not like it if I put them out too early. My indoor decorations are displayed for about a week prior :) I love to decorate for fall with leaves, apples and pumpkins beginning in September until it's time to decorate for Christmas. I don't particularly like the look of Turkeys faces so I don't use them in my Thanksgiving decor. The only turkeys I have are napkin ring holders. That red thing hanging over their face just grosses me out for some reason! LOL I am sooo anxious for it to be fall I could just burst! I had a few things before I started getting his things and now have quite a few of his. I started out with just his snowmen but didn't take long to branch out into Xmas then halloween. Love his things JPC On 8/6/2012 Mostly Invisible said: I do mostly fall decorating, but for the week leading up to Halloween I add my Halloween goodies. Can I come trick or treating???? JPC JPC - Absolutely!!! Enjoying my retirement 1 cup of coffee at a time. My mom has 4 HUGE totes of Halloween decorations....it's an incredible collection of witches, spiders, ghosts, pumpkins.....the totes come out mid September....then November 1st the witches, spiders, ghosts get packed up, pumpkins stay and all the turkey decorations come out. The house is quite beautiful but it's a lot to do and pack away. What's funny is I help with her house and in my house, I have a casual towel set and a couple pumpkins but nothing compared to her house. Right now it's so hot I can't even think of that but I saw barrels of Halloween pretzels at Sam's and the Halloween Ritz crackers are in the grocery store....just too early for me. mominohio1344279474.993864 PostsRegistered 8/8/2010 I have never cared for Halloween decor because the bulk of it is plastic, tacky and loud brash colors. Even when I had a little one, we stuck to pumpkins and scarecrows and such. I have admired other folks displays that we see during trick-or-treat, but never felt compelled to invest the time or money. We live in the country, and no one comes here for trick or treat, or I may have done more of it during the years. I much prefer fall decor, as I put stuff out right after Labor Day and leave it out till Thanksgiving weekend when the Christmas comes out. For outside, we stick with mums, pumpkins, hay bales, and corn stalks. Inside, I have just one box of decor that goes out, some candles in the scent of the season and switch my kitchen dishes/linens to brown and fall patterns and colors (Temp-tations brown and spice are my favorites). yellowrose1344279497.3334026 PostsRegistered 10/6/2004 I admitted to being Nuts a long time ago. I don't do much Halloween outside because we have no treat or treaters, plus my dog would drag all the decorations off into the woods. But the inside is just crazy. My home will be halloweenized by Sept. 1 or soon after so I can enjoy it all for a full 2 months. After Halloween, I sadly put away all the witches and most everything else that screams Halloween, but of course all my many pumpkins and fall decor stays out until it's time to put up the Christmas tree, then things get crazy again. LOL Jan-Aug my home looks pretty normal, well make that Feb-Aug since football still going in Jan. If Dallas goes to Superbowl, then delay normal until March. GinaV241344281638.3873217 PostsRegistered 7/23/2010 LOL, I love fall and Halloween so I tend to start decorating with fall things and then start adding the Halloween items in beginning in October. I have quite a collection so I have a lot of fun with it. I have some of Jim Shore's pieces, items from Slatkin and things I've just collected from random places. I do take the Halloween items down after Nov 1, but the fall theme stays up at least until Thanksgiving. cater1344285100.643676 PostsRegistered 1/26/2010 I wish I were like some of you were a little bit of decorating is good. I am not though I am the queen of halloween decorating according to the dismay of my family. Every thing gets decorated for halloween my front porch has orange icicle lights that flicker hanging off the eves, the porch posts get fall garlands and orange lights wrapped around them. My front door gets garland and orange lights, door wreath lights up. Pumpkins and fall mums and corn stocks get worked in to the display. The bench has pumpkins and halloween (nice ones ) people sitting and the bench is lighted also. My side walks I change my solar lights to amber colors. The back yard and deck get the same treatments. All around my home all my shrubs have orange lights on them. Inside every thing gets changed to fall and halloween all my windows that have welcome candle lights get their bulbs changed to orange. Living room picture window gets a big black tree with crows and halloween orange lights and fall decorations, little ghosts, small pumpkins etc. I swear I have as many halloween decorations as I do christmas ones. No one here has to tell me I am nuts as I have children who tell me clearly "you have had too much time on your hands to accumulate all this STUFF!" They don"t think though I have been collecting all my decorations for over 50 years and am still doing it. My son was reading the paper the other night and he happened to glance over to a sight that I was looking at halloween decorations he said "you don"t need one more halloween decoration go read your QVC boards". He was right.the fun part is when all the small children and their parents come and walk around all the many area's that are decorated over our yard. One year a little child came to the door I opened it and he pushed past me went into the living room, dining room, kitchen great room and said "WOW" could I please have my candy?" My daughter said one night when we were sitting on the deck and it was all lite up with orange lights "mom did you ever think that when a plane flys over your home that if any one is looking down with all your orange lights they might think this place is on fire" circles1344285225.8114020 PostsRegistered 5/11/2005N.J. I usually decorated for fall on Sept. 6 - day after labor day and I went all out. It was just a matter of incorporating a few Halloween decorations which were easily removed. Now that I am older (much older actually) by the time I've decorated inside and out for fall, it's time for Christmas decorations. I've had to cut way back on fall and that was always my favorite time to decorate. I still love it though and enjoy seeing decorations that others put out. Pumpkins, lots of fall colors and excited to get the Jim Shore autumn/Thanksgiving basket that I ordered on auto delivery at CIJ this year. Fall candles are my favorite scents to burn. I will start to put some of it out the 2nd week of September. It is so hot here in TX that I don't put out real pumpkins anymore. They rot in a day down here. Nothing completes an outfit better than wearing some dog or cat fur....
