WATCH COLLECTORS....July 2012

Started 1341149550.22 in Jewelry Talk | Last reply 1343824306.737 by lavenderjunkie

Welcome to the July watch collectors thread. Everyone is welcome to stop by and chat about watches, ask a question about watches, or share your latest watch find. Smile

Every month we start a new thread. And we love to have new posters join the discussion. We love watches and finding the best buys on really nice ones.

As far as I remember, we are still waiting for Terryshay to report on her latest white ceramic LP. Hope its a real winner Terry. {#emotions_dlg.thumbup}

Sweet Girly: me too. The LP watch count at Wow is up, so they are adding some new styles. But none that make we want to hit the submit button. Guess that's a good thing. Wink I know what I want... a 36mm all white ceramic with a diamond bezel, at an affordable price. And yes, it has to have an ETA automatic movement and good diamonds. I don't expect much. {#emotions_dlg.rolleyes}

Thx for starting a new thread, LJ.

Not much action in here today, I see. All the action is in the Ripka threads.

My white/pink sapphire is on it's way back tomorrow. I tried. {#emotions_dlg.mellow}

Jena: your attention is focused elsewhere these days. It's the JR jewelry that makes your socks roll up and down. Enjoy it. That's how it goes from one collection to another. {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

My white sapphire LP arrived today and it is indeed a winner! The blue sapphires really stand out against the white dial and frame it. Can definitely recommend this one!!! It just speaks summer and is really fresh looking on the wrist. Now I just need to get it and my other new LP sized. Been out of town and just returned a day or so ago.

Hey, knowing what you want is a good thing. :)

I know I want a white ceramic watch with yellow gold trim and a diamond (or maybe crystal) bezel. There are a couple of SL Karamicas I like that I am waiting for the right sale on. The Android I ordered hasn't come in yet, but it will be my first automatic and I am interested to see how I like it. I absolutely hate it when my watch battery dies. That's the main reason I quit wearing a watch for several years, because the battery would die, I'd have it replaced and it wouldn't last six months. Aggravating!

Hi ALL:

terryshay, welcome back! I hope you enjoyed your visit...Glad to hear you love that white LP.

jenagal, did you see any JR bracelets you HAD TO HAVE???

LJ, we will wait patiently for the perfect LP and for the right price...

aprimo, we will keep a lookout for that Karamica you want...

Terry welcome back. That blue sapphire LP that you have, I'd certainly be tempted but I have a blue sapphire Renato with white sporgenza dial that looks a lot like that one. Close enough anyway that I don't want to duplicate it. I bet it is a showy piece.

Sweetgirly, I got past the JR presentations without ordering anything. Wasn't easy.{#emotions_dlg.rolleyes}

I decided to venture into electronics and grabbed myself an Ipad. Now I'll find out how stupid I am. All this technical stuff doesn't get any easier the older you get. You can take that to the bank.{#emotions_dlg.laugh}

Jena: the ipad is supposed to be intuitive. That is if we can unlearn all the windows logic we have acquired over the years. Good luck. When I try to use my brother's Mac I can never figure out how to do anything. {#emotions_dlg.confused1} It's hard to teach an old dog new tricks. {#emotions_dlg.laugh}

aprimo: this might be a good week for sales on the Karamica. Keep checking the line up at wow and wow tv. Are you looking for the 34mm or the 39mm version?

I'm lucky to learn the functions and features on my new cell phone when I have to up grade. I always get the most basic one I can. Just thinking about getting an iPad............{#emotions_dlg.scared}

I'd go with either size, depending on the deal. I just don't want the ones with arabic numerals--I don't like the look of them. I want the roman numerals. Sorry, I forgot to mention.

Since I already have a white 39mm Karamica w/rose gold, I don't want to get a yellow gold one that is too similar. So that is why I will only consider the yellow gold ones with diamond or crystal bezels. Also, I got a black 34mm Karamica w/diamond bezel and I really love it.

Speaking of WoW TV, do you get different deals there than on the website?

Aprimo- ewatches has the white diamond in silver with roman for 279. I have this watch and just bought another as a gift. It's a stunning watch and very different from the rose or yellow gold. The mop is quite beautiful.

aprimo: I don't know if the deals are different or not on wow and wow tv. Generally the deals will show up on both. But, sometimes you can look at wow tv at the line up of products for that day and catch a better price before it shows in the product listing on wow. What I have found is depending upon how you enter the product, you sometimes get different prices. If you get an email with a link, you might find different prices than if you just go to the product thru a search.

Thank you Terry. I am not interested in the silver because the black diamond Karamica I have has the silver trim. And I also have the white w/rose gold, so that is why I am set on the yellow gold now with diamonds. But I do appreciate the heads-up. That is a beautiful watch. If I could afford to have one of every variety, I would! {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

Hi Ladies! Smile Sounds like there's some serious watch buying/looking going on! Congrats on the new LP's and Karamicas. I'll have to check these sapphire LP's you all have purchased; they sound intriguing. The only watch I've almost bought these last couple of weeks is the Michele Fleur watch----it's captivated me, but I don't want to fork out big bucks. Sigh.

Jena and SweetGirly, I got an IPad a week ago and am enjoying it. So far, I mostly use it to surf the web and as an e-reader. I took it on my beach trip, and it was so much more convenient than my laptop. I'm pretty low-tech, and I find it easy to use, although hubby was the one who got it up and running!

Hello ladies.

Enjoying reading of your watch searches.

I was afraid I'd have to work tomorrow, as one of my colleagues who was to work had a family emergency. Luckily, one of my other colleagues volunteered to work.

Jena: I just got the new iPad about 2 weeks ago. My first venture into Apple other than my iPod. It's not that foreign. I got recommendations for a couple of good free tutorials (apps) over on the Electronics board here on the Q forums. There's also a long iPad tips thread there. You'll enjoy using it! I'm already addicted to a word game that I got for free.

Glad you get the day off Jazzy. You certainly put in enough hours, without regard to holidays and weekends. Enjoy the time and relax.

Happy 4th of July all. Today I'm going to check my watches to see which ones need a new battery. I'll wind a few automatics when I come across them. Some might think I am just taking the day to play with my toys. {#emotions_dlg.biggrin} All in the nice cool confines of my bedroom.

HAPPY JULY 4th TO ALL!!!!

LJ, I'm sure you will be enjoying each and every one of your beauties. I love the few that I have acquired. I am thinking about buying another watch box while they are still available. I want to make sure I have a nice home for other lovelies that may come my way. Wink You know the ones I am talking about. They are a work of art in themselves.{#emotions_dlg.thumbup}

Happy 4th to all!!! I hope everyone has a great day!! I knew exactly where to turn for watch question. :) Has anyone heard of Haurex? I love their flag watches. They are made for a man so they might a little big for me. Even though I have so gotten used to my 39mm Karamicas. They are all I wear. So, what do you think??? Thanks!!! PS--I did find this watch cheaper. It was just easier to cut and paste this link. Thanks again!!

And there just happens to be one on the bay now with a bin or best offer! You are in luck! Don't think we will see these much longer.

Seashoregirl: that's a fun looking watch. I'm not familiar with the brand. According to the product description it has an aluminum case, which would make it light, but I don't know about the durability or the quality of the plating.

The movement is quartz, but no country of origin is given. at that price, probably a low end Japanese movement or other far east made movement. And the crystal is mineral. Bottom line, if you like it and can wear the 42mm size, its a sharp looking fashion watch. The rubber strap should make it comfortable on the wrist, but I personally don't like the feel of rubber or silicone straps. I know that most people disagree with me on this.

Ladies, check out shopnbc. Sonia Bitton is selling gorgeous white and black ceramic gold, silver and rosetone watches. The bezel has the Brillante stones with I believe 5 Brillante stones inside the case. I think it's 41mm. Anyway, check it out. It's gorgeous and I want to get the one in goldtone Happy 4th everyone!Last edited on 7/4/2012
