I have been diabetic for 12 years and i watch what I eat. Definitely no snacking in between meals, especially on banana pudding. Most diabetics - and people in general - don't make the association between food and their health. Look at David Venable. He's overweight and stuffs himself during both of his cooking shows every week. He's a definite candidate to be diabetic. Most will just increase their insulin and eat what they want and keep gaining weight. Another example is the lady thta's on the show with the baking cookbook. Definitely overweight and doesn't get it. I get so upset. Our health care costs are going up because of people like this. The good news is that everywhere you go you see people who are overwight - many very much so - that it keeps me on track cause I don't want to get like that again (I used to weigh 256, now weigh 135, lost it after finding out I was diabetic). Sorry - I went on and on. Just my opinion. fifweg1333305854.25190 PostsRegistered 2/9/2008 On 4/1/2012 depglass said: The charitable thing would be to say she is fulfilling her contract with QVC. She didn't eat the whole banana pudding - she only took a bite or two. "Myth: People with diabetes can't eat sweets or chocolate. Fact: If eaten as part of a healthy meal plan, or combined with exercise, sweets and desserts can be eaten by people with diabetes. They are no more “off limits” to people with diabetes than they are to people without diabetes." Paula looks like she's lost quite a bit of weight so she must be doing something right. Congratualtions to her. And fifweg, congratulations to you on your weight loss as well. Going to bed and getting up the same time. Checking blood glucose levels several times during the day and keeping exact records. Get my drift? Not very practical and BORING! If Paula is under a doctor's care and she has a couple bites of dessert, it's really no ones business! None of us are perfect. Islandgirl, You heading up the petition to abolish jails & prisons because we shouldn't be judging if other's behavior is criminal? Of course we judge one another: the fashionistas judge the models & fashion designers to see who they will emulate. The jocks judge the sports heros to decide who to model there behavior I after. Etc. Cassiel1333319444.73685 PostsRegistered 1/7/2010 I'm sure she's aware of what she can and cannot eat. I'm also sure a few bites during the times she's on QVC isn't going to send her over. Etc. Get serious, we're talking about judging lifestyle choices with food. Nowhere on this thread did we start talking about criminal behavior. Obviously you're heading up the petition to tell others how to live their own lives regarding food....and yes, sometimes they suffer the consequences of their choices regarding food. And people judge overweight people like they are weak and undisciplined too. Most skinny people cannot pull the reins in on their own eating, but they are fortunate to have higher metabolisms. I've been thin all my life, but I know others who have been overweight as children. In many cases, they fight that uphill battle all their lives. Pixie Jo Regarding any judgement, here are a couple of things to mull over if one is of the Christian persuasion, I heard Joyce preach on this and I wrote it down. I was totally blown away by this. John 5:30Jesus said he passed NO judgement without consulting the Father, that would be God, first. His judgement is absolutely fair and just for it is according to the will of God, and not merely his own. Then Matthew 7:1-2 in essence says whatever judgement, criticism we mete to others, that boomerangs back to us. So, it gives a good guide as to what we should do. Its not easy but its an example we should all aspire to. Let's start judging and banning all the fat people from McDonalds and all the thin people from gyms. Good grief, this thread is unbelievable! Jessie2u1333321556.8252 PostsRegistered 10/6/2004 If being a diabetic means you can never have a bite or two of something sweet now and then they just need to kill me know. I am a diabetic, Paula didn't stand there and eat the WHOLE bowl of banana pudding, or the WHOLE cake. I guess you didn't hear her say we have to practice moderation here. I guess all US diabetics need to be banned to the island just because we have diabetes, we aren't worth anything anymore cause we are contaminated now. Well a bigger drain is all the deadbeats laying around on welfare and those that keep on having children so they can get more free medical help and benefits most of us have to pay for. And not all diabetics are that way because they are overweight. Mine was caused by a blood infection. Then there is the drain of our resouraces by drug addicts and, alcholics laying around on SSI and free medical help. Come to my state as they hand out beefits like candy. rondell1333345488.4810758 PostsRegistered 12/17/2009USA Paula does a lot of things for one reason, M O N E Y. I hope she can get healthy and stay healthy, for her sake and those of her family. I wonder if she is going to work on healthier recipes to share with her fans and serve in her restaurant? I try to write it well, but mostly fail. maryooch1333366633.45116 PostsRegistered 8/10/2011 I am not judging here just stating the facts.....I have a hypoglycemia and have for years and have to watch my glucose intake every day or I have problems (weakness, dizziness etc.) Having said that, I watched Paula yesterday with David. She did not just have a couple of bits of banana pudding cake but she had many helpings of the ham she is pushing which had honey and sugar glaze, she had a couple of mouthfuls of coconut cake, chocolate cake, blueberry cobbler, banana pudding cake and other desserts that I cannot remember what they were. I was watching her and thought to myself, how can she eat all this sugar and not have it bother her. She is jeopardizing her health to sell her cookbook and ham. Then in the eveing I did a Q check and there she was eating more ham with glaze! I know it is none of my business but when she goes on talk shows crying because people are judging her it does become a venue for people to respond. Enough said and I hope I did not offend anyone.
