Aww, pretty tulips ! Looking forward to our daffodils poking thru the soil in about a month or so..........the chipmunks and/or squirrels ate our tulips years ago ! :)

I try to add a few things every year. This year I am looking for a purple robe locust tree. My daffodils & daylilies are poking through the snow now.

Life is like a snowstorm...you'll meet a lot of flakes

I will have to look that one up ( purple robe locust tree) ....I've never heard of it. Sounds interesting . A local college has a number of unusual tress planted in it's Quad area. I always loved walking by them in the different seasons .........one had beautiful peeling bark, and gorgeous big flowers in the Spring.

I waited too long to edit this thread......wanted to say that I began this thread yesterday, but for some reason it was deleted overnight. Posters had contributed great comments and some were lengthy .........I felt bad all that info was lost. So, this is just a heads up, that as much as having lots of gardening info on this thread would be great, so as not to waste too much of anyone's time and effort, please don't invest too much of your time/written word here. If the deletes keep on happening, I'm just going to stop this thread.

Thanks for starting the thread, SKIES. Hope it lasts. I've just about finished making my potato salad for the big party tonight celebrating a relative's 40th birthday. I'm tired, lol. I love gardening and cherish my flowers in my back yard and front yard every year. I want to add to your statement by saying that we also might want to QUIT QUOTING and PULLING UP EVERYONE'S QUOTES just to respond. We can just type their name and respond with a short answer. Have a great day everyone.

KAT, Good advice ! I just loved quoting photos, to continue the beautiful photos thru the thread, but you're right, let's see if it makes a difference when we don't ......also, quoting comments. Gotcha ! :D .............There's a rule in my house........" WHEN THE COOK GETS TIRED, THE COOK TAKES A NAP BEFORE PARTY " :) go rest .

Hi kitty......I really don't think that has anything to do with the poofing. There isn't a thread on the boards that this isn't done on. Everybody does it and if that were the case, everything would get poofed and there wouldn't be a place for us to post any more.

Sounds like you and Gooday are busy cooking for everyone. Believe SunDee is cooking for someone today too.

Well, FLUFFY....knew you'd want to break the rule by "QUOTING"! {#emotions_dlg.blink} Okay, Miss Know it All, continue, {#emotions_dlg.laugh} I just thought we would try what the other posters suggested. Bye for now ya'll, gotta run.

I'm going to try an experiment.....I will try and keep this thread at a minimal, no quoting photos and comments, and see what happens. If it's deleted anyway, I will know what that means.......because by minimizing, we will eliminate all possibility of " rule breaking" . That will leave only one possible reason . Then, we can just enjoy other garden threads. Okay ! back to everyone 's favorite subject .......gardening !!!! Last edited on 2/18/2012

Just a thought........at this time of year we are all yearning for the outdoors, and getting back to tending our gardens, patios, or balcony areas..........and by end of July we are all so tired of it........."I have to mow the grass again ?? !!" ......." I just mowed it !" lol........

Hope our miss kitty has gotten her scolding me out of her system now. She has a tendency to do this to me.....but that is our kitty. At least she didn't e-mail me. That would have been worse......my humble opinion only.

Have fun tonight kitty. Still love ya girlfriend.

blueskies....wish you would have taken TL up on her offer last night before she got banned. I had a phone call from her again, and once again she has been banned under her new nic. She really can't call corporate until Monday to see what can be done.

Fluffy, oh no not again. Why why why ? I haven't seen anything the least bit " wrong " in any of her comments today ......oh gee, well if you talk to her, tell her I said hello. I hope she is allowed back on. She is a fun person . PS btw , do you all chat on FB ? Last edited on 2/18/2012

No blue....I don't have a balcony....there is a front porch with railings around it, but the squirrels get into everything out there and tear the plants out of the containers....then there is a mess to clean up. I was going to do something out there last year, but it was a good thing I didn't because I ended up being in San Antonio for almost 7 weeks.....and the plants would not have been watered or taken care of. I did see where the Q is now offering a double sided planter for over railings. But they cost almost $30, then there is S&H, and taxes. Will see maybe what I can find locally first. But, am sure those little critters will find them if I do put any planters out. The front porch faces the west, and it gets pretty hot out there in the summer.

I do have a very large jardiniere that I could put outside the back door to the building, but I would be so afraid of some one driving through to pick it up and take it off. It would be heavy, but if they wanted it, they would manage.....and no would hear them. I have had that planter for so many years now, and would hate to have it stolen.
