Vera Bradley & QVC I am Furious!

Started 1267397091 in Q Did What? | Last reply 1267477889 by suzyQ3
I got this email today:
"Please accept our apologies. We have not received the additional merchandise to fulfill your waitlist order (summarized below) which you placed on Wednesday, January 13, 2010. We do expect it to arrive in mid July."
This was for an Alice bag I ordered the 13th of January! The middle of JULY! This bag is in all the Vera retailers right now! For $71!!! QVC was selling it for $49! Does anyone think that has anything to do with it taking so long to get it in? And mid July? New Vera patterns will be out by then......I have been defending QVC for months with my friends complaining about all the delays in shipping, the lack of merchandise, the waiting for processing and the waitlists, the advance orders.....all of it.....now I understand.......never again! No more waitlists for me! Anyone else?

Although it doesn't happen very often, sometimes the Q can't fulfill waitlist orders.
I don't think it's a conspiracy.

Sorry, but they have I think 45 days to fulfill that order if their going to. They told you they can't within that time frame. I guess I do not see the issue you are having.
If it's that important to you, go spend the extra money and buy it elsewhere.
You should never have depended on something that was iffy to begin with.

I don't think this is a conspiracy.....and they did notify me within the 45 days.....but an additional 4 months???? QVC should just say they are unable to fill the orders...I did cancel my order.....

Over the years, I've ordered many waitlisted items; only once did I not get my order. I can understand your frustration, but I hardly would consider it a conspiracy.

It's very frustrating when you really want something and can't get it.
The Alice has been very popular, maybe VB doesn't have enough to spread around. It sounds like the Q is trying to be accomodating by offering to keep you on the list until July, although that's a really long wait.
Often, they get things in way before the date they tell you. Maybe you should have stayed on the list "just in case."

I'm not the one that claimed it to be a conspiracy.....I just find it strange that with the huge price difference from the regular retail market and QVC's price that this happened....I cancelled the order and chalked it up to someone telling me that this is one bag that I don't need.......:^O

If the bags are made in China then it would probably take until July. They would have to make them, then send them over by cargo ship.

I've had a couple of items where that happened, but not often. After 45 days, they would advise of a new date and I had the option wait or cancel. They are not the manufacturer, so it's kind of had to fault QVC. I understand the frustration, but I know whenever I waitlist that it's a good possibility the order won't get filled.

I imagine QVC contracts to buy a certain amount at a certain price. They never guarantee waitlist delivery.

I don't think QVC can force VB to sell them the merchandise. So if VB can enhance their bottom line selling the bag for more in their own outlets, that's what they're doing.
I think this same process is happening with products other than your pretty bag. Exposure on QVC gives companies a HUGE market they'd never have otherwise. Items presented become so popular they can sell them for more money than when they were selling them to QVC so they sell QVC their initial amount and then no more . Or at least that's what I thought happened with one of my favorite beauty products.

Hi Cindy Jo,
I wouldn't call $22 a "huge price difference," (especially once you factor in the s/h charges), but I'm sorry you're disappointed.
I completely agree with you though that the long delay is a sign that this may be one bag you don't really need.
I tell myself the same thing when I find out my size is gone or an item is discontinued, etc., not only here but in stores. At first I'm disappointed. Then, I think, it wasn't meant to be! :)

p.s. But just in case you really, really want the bag, do an ebay search. I put in Vera Bradley Alice in Search, and got 92 hits.
And I have to say this is interesting: one of the biggest sellers of the VB bags on ebay is located in "West, PA, United States." Could that mean West Chester?
Talk about conspiracy theories! ;)

There are absolutely ebay sellers who live near West Chester and make big bucks off of the Q outlet merchandise.

I would certainly be disappointed but at least you can get it somewhere else even if you have to pay more.

The Vera retailers' price is 44 percent higher. That's nothing to sneeze at.

I wouldn't blame the Q on this as much as suppliers....but the Q should punish the suppliers that short stick them, and bet they do in ways we do not fathom!
but if someone told me wait til July, I would look elsewhere....another bus comes along every five minutes around here :)

I guess that's what made me so angry about this...QVC shouldn't let their suppliers get away with this......after all, it's QVC's reputation that THEY are hurting.....not just the customers.......thanks everyone for letting me vent! :-D

I can sympathize with you on your waitlisted item. I have been a Q shopper for 20 years and have on occasion had an item waitlisted. None really bothered me until I had a Sincerely Southwest item on waitlist. I had searched all the websites that carry this line of Carolyn Pollack and the Q was the only place that carried this pendant which was approximately $110. I was on waitlist and then received a notice that it was going to be over the 45 days and I stayed on waitlist for several months. Then eventually I received an email stating the item was discontinued and no longer available. I was not pleased but decided to go online and search for something comparable. Guess what? There was my pendant with a new item number but the same exact price! And it was in stock! So you might want to keep checking online to see if your item is in stock with a different item number.

Well, you know, OVC is not the only retailer for Vera Bradley. You can find them online and in stores. Perhaps there will be a sale before July.

I got an email saying my Mally eyeliners will be arriving in November. Those are some might slow boats from China.

Yes, RedHeadReDoux, but the point to this was as I originally stated is that QVC had it for $49 and it's $71 at all the retail outlets....even with shipping it was cheaper.....and by July, Vera will have even more new patterns out.....but.....if this is the was that QVC wants Vera Bradley to treat their customers.....oh well...Vera would rather you buy them at retail....you'll pay more...Vera Bradley can keep their bags....I'll buy some other brand. ;-)

My guess is that Q cannot get it in at the $49 price point right now. They probably think they can get them in July because, as you said, the new patterns will be coming in and VB probably wants to move the old.

The Q wants your money, so if they can't get an item that's on waitlist, I'm guessing it's the vendor, and not QVC. It is rare that I have not received an item I have waitlisted, but it happens. If the company has ceased production on that product, I guess you are S.O.L.

Just think of the money you saved. Seriously - Vera Bradley always ends up on eBay or in some discount store.

You're right. I have three or four VBs, and eBay is the way to go, especially for current patterns. If it's a pattern or style they're discontinuing, sometimes you can do pretty well on the VB site itself or elsewhere.
