I'm a little late, hope you read this. The bracket doesn't come out, it's welded on - I too thought it came out. The gasket is easy to pull out, it's very flexible silicone. To put it back in after washing, you want to make sure to get that inner grove of it nestled into that circular bar/ bracket. I was tugging and stuffing it first, then found simply pushing it down with my thumbs around the circle did the trick and it just settled into place easily.
