HALO Charger TSV 1/9 Question

Started 1357794327.167 in TSV Talk | Last reply 1357878841.46 by DorothyToo

I have asked this several other places & can't seem to get an answer - Will this work w/the Olympus SZ-14 camera that was a TSV in Nov 2012?

Does the camera use a USB charger? If it does it should work with Halo.

Yes, but it's the tip end that goes into the camera that is the problem.

Edited to add: Nevermind, maybe I see...Do I have to use the connection that came w/the camera, plug it into the camera on one end & the USB end into the HALO on the other end? Is that it?

I think you charge the Halo by plugging in to USB or an outlet.

you can charge it in an electrical outlet OR you can charge it via your computers usb port.

Thanks sunshine and wild. But, I don't see a wall plug though....only the USB plug.

How do you charge the Halo?

From the FAQs on the item site:

Q: How do you charge this unit?
A: Charge the HALO Pocket Power charger using the supplied Charge It Charge Me cable, which has a USB connector on either end. Plug one USB connector into the Halo charger and plug the other USB connector to a computer or an AC power source with a USB 5V input.

These are cute but they won't be much use if the electricity goes out. HSN has one that also works with a 9 volt battery. Amazon has lots of chargers. I see they have one that has a battery & also charges with solar. It is less than the Halo. I think the Halo is cute & OK if you just forget to charge your phone but something that works w/o having to be plugged in is going to be more practical.

Yep. This means you will be able to use it once if the electricity goes out. If you need it twice you'll be out of luck.

lotus, i dont know what type of phone you have, but i can plug mine into the electrical outlet plug that comes with my phone. the halo itself does not come with an electrical outlet charger.

willdob3 - I have the Brookstone one from HSN that works w/the 9V battery but none of the many tips included w/it fit the camera. I kept it anyway because it works w/my cell phone & I like the idea of the battery if/when the electricity is out. Saw the ones that work w/solar but haven't tried them. Do you know if they work w/the camera?

i bought ten of these a month ago when they were the tsv. i gave most of them away as gifts and they were a big hit. i used one first to make sure it worked and it did what it was supposed to do. it is a great back up device if you are out and cannot charge your electronic device. i may buy a few more today.

Can you charge the camera if you use the cord that came with your camera? I remember you talking about this before. It is awful if you can't charge all your things with the same one.

I ordered 3 today. One for me and each of my sons. My oldest drives a tractor/trailer and is on the road A LOT.....I thought this would be great as a back up power source for his his phone. I'm not sure if you has a charger in the truck.

Dorothy, the Halo comes with 3 different tips. Did you check the description page to see if one of the tips looks like the tip that goes in your camera?

i cannot speak for the camera.....i THINK it should. this is how you have to use it with the iphone 5..... you definitely have to use the cord that came with that particular phone because the adapters dont fit, but it DOES work. a lot of people complain that it wont work with the iphone 5, but i dont think they listened to the presentations or read the material. it definitely works because i gave one to my daughter for her iphone 5.

That is what I was wondering, Sunshine. If maybe Dorothy would be able to use it - or better yet use the Brookstone one she recently purchased - using the cord that came with her charger.

Yes, if none of the tips that comes with it fit the camera. Can you charge your camera with the Brookstone that way? Using the cord that came with the camera?

Dorothy, I think if there is a way to get it to work with the charger yu already have that would be the best deal.

W/the Brookstone one, if I can, I haven't figured out how. I notice the HALO has an interchangeable adapter which the Brookstone one doesn't have (not that I can figure out anyway) so maybe that will work w/the Brookstone one for the camera & the phone. Just ordered one of the HALOs so...we'll see...Wink

Of course, I had ordered 2 of the HALO ones the last time they were a TSV & cancelled them because, even though I had ordered them in the 1st 30 mins before anything was on advanced order, a few days later they changed the orders to advanced orders w/no explanation. Got no satisfaction from CS. It aggravated me so I cancelled them & ordered from HSN...{#emotions_dlg.angry}

Thanks for the link, sunshine! Somebody else already asked about it charging an Olympus camera. No answer yet.
