Lon Simmons: Gone to the broadcaster's booth in the sky

The voice of the San Francisco Giants and several other teams over a very long career, Lon Simmons passed away on Easter Sunday at the age of 91.

I must have listened to several thousand hours of Lon broadcasting Giants games on the radio, prior to television broadcasting of games.

Lon, you will be missed. My childhood and the Giants and you all meshed to make it a great experience.

The SF bay area baseball fans are in mourning. He was such a part of the Giants and later, the A's. He had been ill for some time. Lon, RIP.

One of the all-time greats! I enjoyed him no matter what game he was calling, Giants, A's, Niners. Just thinking about him brings back so many memories, those were the days! RIP Lon <3
