For those who were wondering, here's what it says on their website:
While customers like what the Orthaheel footbed and support does for them, they didn't really like the brand name. The feedback we received was that it sounded a bit "old" and "orthopedic".
After testing ideas with both current and prospective consumers, the preferred name was Vionic. To them it sounded fresh, modern and technical. By keeping "with Orthaheel Technology", it provides assurance that Vionic still offers the same great support they love in their current Orthaheel products.
The company was not sold, or merge with another company. We have the exact same leadership team and our founder, Philip Vasyli, continues to be our chairman.

What is it supposed to do, remind us of Bionic?

I had ordered the vionic TSV and I found that they weren't as comfortable as my orthoheel sneakers, the support wasn't as comfortable and the soles don't bend and when it is cold out they are extremely hard and slippery. So I am going to order multiply orthoheel sneakers before they disappear, because to me the quality is not the same.

I notice that the Orthaheel shoes I see in bricks and mortar stores now have the Vionic name on them as well. I think the name change is kind of dumb though.

Can I ask which B&M stores you have found Orthaheel shoes in? I've been buying them totally from the Internet and would love to be able to try on some in a store. Oh, I guess I have to qualify that - I have seen the Tide sandal in a store, but that style doesn't fit my narrow foot.

I have to admit that I have avoided comfort shoe stores because I felt that all of the shoes would be "ugly." But I definitely think Orthaheels are cute, so I guess I should check out a couple of those special stores. I do shop for shoes at Dillards but hadn't noticed the Dr. Weil line. Thanks!
