I found an article on using your crock pot as a smoker...........and I pecan wood smoked a boston butt this weekend, and it does work.............{#emotions_dlg.thumbup1} It was not overly smoked, but did add another depth of flavor from the slow cooker..............Cool

NONE...........{#emotions_dlg.w00t} I did soak my wood chips, but I did not put in any liquid in the slow cooker, and only the natural juice was there...........Cool

Thank you so much forrestwolf for taking the time to post this for us.

What a very interesting site! I started using a crock for the first time only a year ago, so I am always looking for ideas. I don't get around the web much except for recipe swap!

I am going to try this for sure.

Thanks again...much appreciated!

WOW - this thread is either a curse or a blessing! I just went to Stephanie's website and spent the last 2 hours looking through her recipes - what a great resource!!! She does things with a crockpot I never dreamed of. (like I NEED more recipes!!!!) It's now 10:30 am and I'm not dressed, bed isn't made, breakfast dishes still on the table - just because of the time I spent at her site and getting tons of ideas that I want to try. So......despite the fact that nothing has been done - thanks for this site which has now been bookmarked for further research!

You might be interested in her cookbooks. I have one and it's great. But she's done others:

And thanks, FW, for this info. It sounds promising!
