The tears in my heart are so so many
I struggle to find an answer but there just isn't any
My thoughts and prayers are with each and every family
Whose lives are forever changed by this awful tragedy
How can we grasp what happened that day
It may never be known I am sad to say
As a parent and grand parent I ache inside
It's a feeling of despair that I just can not hide
I sit, watch the news and cry each day
But it was worse when the names of the victims they did say
A child should be nurtured, safe and free to grow
The evil that deliberately took them I'm glad I do not know
God is walking with each and every single solitary soul
Because the vicious acts of another have certainly taken its toll
I say these things in prose for I know not what else to do
It's my way of showing my love as I'm sure is within you too
Many parents are dying inside and have no idea how to cope
But in the comfort of us united they may find some sense of hope
It's easy to tell the families to be courageous and to be strong
Let us as a nation do everything we can do to right this wrong
Yes, the order for this, our call to duty, is very tall
But we must stand together and protect the innocent be (s)he large or small
Lovingly submitted,
