Seems to me the "Lunchtime Specials" are items the Q can't sell and it's a 'last chance' effort before putting on clearance.

And?

Many stores will put items on sale before clearing them out.

Actually, I think some of them have already been listed as "clearance" before being Lunchtime Specials. And, of course it's a last-ditch effort to sell them, why not?

One of today's items (an expensive piece of jewelry, I think) was only $10 less! That's neither "special" or "clearance" in my opinion!

Nothing wrong but, before they had the extended specials, it seems they put regular merchandise - sort of like a tsv on sale for a couple of hours. It's not the same anymore.

They're definitely hit or miss... I don't care why they do it, I'm always up for a better price, but what I do find kind of ridiculous is how really rare there's actually something listed as LTS that's worth looking at! I do, though, feel the Q plays a good number of pricing games between all their various price categories.
