THE MUPPETS TAKE OVER AND CUSTOMERS WISH FOR A BOARD TAKEOVER!

Greetings....as you know the Muppets have taken over......

/></p> <p>Here is what Doug Rose, QVC's Senior Vice President Of Marketing And Programming had to say in his official statement....</p> <p>We might be crazy to let the Muppets assume control of QVC on March 16, but it’s too late to back out now,” Doug Rose, QVC senior vice president of marketing and programming, said in a canned statement. “We’re just crossing our fingers that they know what they’re doing and that nobody gets hurt.”

Well at least he got the FIRST FOUR WORDS OF HIS STATEMENT RIGHT! We might be crazy

So in keeping with the theme here are some fun Muppet facts---and a QVC MATCH that corresponds well with a muppet

MISS PIGGY-

Miss Piggy is from IOWA---she was raised by a mean and uncaring mother, her father passed away and was forced to enter beauty contests to pay bills.....Her full name is Miss Piggy Lee....."is that all there is"

QVC MATCH-Why host Lisa R of course, who also competed in beauty pageants, perhaps they can share backstage stories....and they both love love love "fine fashion" and "jewelry" and while Lisa designs Gili bags.....Miss Piggy designs totes for QVC's red carpet...

/><img src=

ROWLF-

One of the first muppets, Rowl is a dog and appeared on Purina Dog Food commercials, then a sidekick for Jimmy Dean.......

/></p> <p><span style= Rowlf's bio said he had hoped while on the Jimmy Dean Show that something better would come along......

QVC MATCH-The QVC viewer who after viewing the programming CERTAINLY continues to hope that something better would come along---both UNFULFILLED DREAMS ....{#emotions_dlg.sneaky}

THE SWEDISH CHEF-

/></p> <p><span style=A parody of television chefs, the Swedish Chef wears a toque blanche and has bushy eyebrows that completely obscure his eyes.

Nearly all Swedish Chef sketches on The Muppet Show begin with him in a kitchen, waving some utensils while singing his signature yodel-esque song in his typical mock Swedish – a semi-comprehensible gibberish mimicking Swedish phonology and prosody

His commentary is spiced with the occasional English word to clue in the viewer to what he is attempting; for example, "Aweenda shmure da froog's legs"

QVC MATCH- Why what QVC host waves his hands and holds utensils and speaks sales gibberish but our own David V.{#emotions_dlg.biggrin}....If I were Miss Peggy and Kermit I would stay away from David....was that a recipe for Frog Legs With Bacon for ITKWD's green theme for March!!!! {#emotions_dlg.scared} ......At least I have not seen The Swedish Chef happy dance.....

/></p> <p><span style=They both have their own merchandise and own mugs....

/><img src=

FOZZIE BEAR

/></p> <p><span style=Fozzie is an orange-brown, fuzzy bear who often wears a brown pork pie hat and a red-and-white polka-dotnecktie. The character debuted on The Muppet Show, as the show's stand-up comic, a role where he constantly employed his catchphrase, "Wocka Wocka Wocka!". Shortly after telling the joke, he was usually the target of ridicule, particularly from hecklersStatler and Waldorf.

QVC MATCH-With her orange tan, and also sprewing "wocka,wocka,wocka" along with some strange clothing combinations she is also subject to ridicule from some viewers, so the perfect match is Courtney!!!! Smile

/></p> <p> </p> <p><span style= GONZO-

/></span></p> <p><span style= In his earliest version he is called a vulture....although some classify him as an alien.....who knows....He is famous for plaing the final trumpet note of the opening THE MUPPET SHOW with unexpected results. He has several memorable performances such as his song from The Muppet Movie, "I'm Going to Go Back There Some Day", or his rendition of "My Way". Gonzo fans would also recognize the quotation, "I shall now eat a rubber tire to the music of The Flight of the Bumblebee...music, maestro!" He is known as an intellectual and once recited Hamlet while jumping his motorbike over a flaming hoop.

QVC MATCH-Well the "intellectual" part fits NO ONE in the QVC brass.....But due to his love of song and jumping over a flaming hoop, his match fits PERFECTLY with one of our QVC "favorites" -BOSE!

Bose

FOO FOO-

/></span></p> <p><span style=Miss Piggy's poodle.....Miss Piggy is very tender towards her, although to the point of sickly saccharinparentese. In the first episode of Muppets Tonight, Piggy gets jealous of Michelle Pfeiffer and sics the poodle on her during the finale.

QVC MATCH-Why the QVC hosts of course with their saccarin parentese (also known as babbling and baby talk) and all those sales gimmicks and "clever" phrases we know and "love"----{#emotions_dlg.rolleyes}

ANIMAL-

/></p> <p><span style=Animal's character can be summed up in five words: romance, sleep, food, drums, and pain.[2] Animal's vocabulary is generally limited to guttural shouts and monosyllabic grunts, often repeating a few simple phrases. He was the mascot for USA's 1998 Ski Team.

QVC MATCH-SOME of the QVC vendors and products featuring ROMANCE -i.e.beauty products(to attract or entice that SO), FOOD (the endless assortment of steaks, qwap cakes, kind bars, etc etc, DRUMS (will grunt and issue forth nonsyllabic grunts to DRUM up sales) {#emotions_dlg.laugh} ....and then of course there is PAIN (these presentations bring much pain to the QVC viewer)....

Last but not least---KERMIT

/></p> <p><span style=Wow! Kermit is getting up in years, he started back in 1955 on WRC TV's Sam and Friends. You know, as a tadpole in the swamp, I had 3,265 brothers and sisters!" According to the 2002 film Kermit's Swamp Years, at the age of 12, he was the first of his siblings to leave the swamp (in Louisiana), and one of the first frogs to talk to humans. He headed to Hollywood, encountering the rest of the Muppets along the way. Together, they were given a standard "rich and famous" contract by Lew Lord (Orson Welles) of Wide World Studios and began their showbiz careers

Unlike the rest of the show's Muppets, Kermit was never any property of Sesame Workshop and has rarely been a part of the show's merchandise. When Sesame Workshop bought full ownership of its characters from The Jim Henson Company for $180 million, Kermit was not included in the deal. The character now belongs to The Muppets Studio, owned and controlled by the Walt Disney Company.

QVC MATCH-The PERFECT match is our own "beloved" Mikkie and "moms" who run QVC and have managed to take a once enjoyable and entertaining premise and turned it into a parody of itself and has turned to Hollywood style gimmicks and is much less entertaining and interesting than the original....and is uncompetitive compared to similar online retailers{#emotions_dlg.mad}{#emotions_dlg.thumbdown}

After further consideration, perhaps QVC's PTB are right, and The Muppets are a great match for QVC....Have a good weekend folks....Cool

I have no problem with QVC or any company, promoting a product line, I'm not a Muppet person, but, their company, they can promote whatever they want, and, if I'm not interested, and I'm not, I'll ignore it.

What I do find so annoying and silly, is that Muppet pop up, that pops up, when you come to the site.

Yes, it takes all of a second to close it, it's certainly not as bad as pop ups on some sites, but, it just seems so silly and pointless. I hate it when sites use these; tends to make me think scroooooo it, and move on!

I always liked the Swedish Chef and Animal. Actually, the Muppets taking over might be an upgrade to the usual stuff. They provide a nice diversion to the NFL free agency chaos going on right now.

Sushe....we have been begging for QVC to show something totally different on at least ONE weekend, yet QVC continues to come up with clever show titles "meant to be", or "spoil yourself Saturday", "look your best for spring" and offer these no so special remotes ie red carpet.........and now they add the Muppets (which cost them a pretty penny to compete with HSN and their Hollywood connection)...QVC can stick Miss Piggy's picture on a Philosophy item and Opi nail polish and offer a Kermit .......But when it comes down to it...its all just THE SAME PRODUCTS with new show titles and packaging....And yes WE DO NOT WATCH, so I guess this company wants to drive customers away and see flat sales continue...because these ginnicks just dont seem to be working!{#emotions_dlg.glare}

Oh yes those pop-ups....I remember when the Discovery Channel had home decor shows and that was the first time I was introduced to pop up altering viewers to upcoming programs and blocking the view of the program you're watching..now of course they are everywhere online and on air .... THEY ARE DOWNRIGHT ANNOYING!....{#emotions_dlg.sneaky}

LOL.....dont worry tegan the NFL Draft will soon be here (although my team won't be participating until the second round). It might have been better if the Muppets had REALLY taken over including the Executive Offices.....but as I flipped the channels it appeared all they did was showcase the same boring computers/tablets and kitchen items....

Give Lucky a hug for me....

Invoking one of those heavy philosophical tenets (and no, I don't mean a bowl of suds...), is one posting commentary more in need of a life than one posting about someone posting commentary...? I tend to think not...
