I am the nurse that started the discussion about Dawn, long story short I have a co-worker that suffers from severe Acne and she has been seeing a Dermatologist for years and she is only in her mid 20s, her MD has had her on creams, scrubs, antibiotics etc. and they initially work for the first 2 weeks and then back comes the severe breakout, not just on her face but also her back. We were discussing what great results we have seen with scalps so I mentioned it to her and asked her the next time she saw her MD if she would ask him what he thought about using it on her face and back. I am happy to report that her MD gave her the green light to try it and it now has been 4 weeks and her complexion looks amazing. She says it has controlled the oil, without drying her face, the acne is almost all gone, her face is so soft and her self confidence has soared. She just went back to see her MD and he to was so amazed that he plans on ordering other patients to give it a try. Now she will not have to go on another antibiotic, because there were very few options left for her. So if anyone is having issues you may want to speak to your specialist.

Dawn has been known to be so useful in helping the clean-up of animals from the oil spills. It's mild and safe. I had a major transmission leak in my driveway and it stained the cement. I used Dawn on my driveway and it was gone immediately.
I also use Dawn to clean my jewelry as it is mild and won't harm the stones or gold and silver.
It's hard to believe it would work on skin, but if it did, it's one of the few products out there that is safe and useful.

I assume you are talking about the BLUE Dawn, right?

It also works as a stain remover on clothing ....

I thank you and I will use it on my face starting NOW as I weaned off my bp and now have a zit to contend with.
Tootie... do you mind if I ask... did you use just the Dawn or a combination with something else? It did not completely remove lipstick on my cotton/linen tee... the dry cleaners did. it did remove oil around the neck of DH's tee.
It also is working as a very good shampoo additive; a dw additive to make glass and plastic less cloudy... cleaned and ""de-squeaked"" a door hinge... tub additive in bath/shower is keeping the man-made marble clean and free of soap scum.

Ok, so if you are a nurse, which I'm assuming you mean a Registered Nurse, did you ask or find out from your friend why Dawn dish soap works? What's the active ingredient that is working on your friend's acne? Science RN & facts are important.

Skylands, yes I am a nurse, why would I say I am if I wasn't, not that my degree matters but I am a BSN, no I didn't ask my co-worker why Dawn Dish soap works, but she and her Dermatologist was at the end of meds, creams, scrubs, or antibiotics and he stated at this point with her dismal results, he told her to give it a try, she carried her Dawn bottle with her to her appointment so he could see the ingrediants, and he is the one that said you have nothing to lose because he pretty much had concluded that there was no hope and that she may just have to live with this condition. The next time she sees her Dermatologist if you have specific questions or facts please send them to me and I will have her ask him all the questions that you may have. I just know what great results she has had and how hopeful the MD will use it on his future patients as he was amazed with her results. It is always exciting to bring new ideas to the medical field, that makes them think outside the box, some of the simplest items are the best fixes. More people should go back to basics.
