I remember my Mom having a glass jar on the counter with fruit in it. A friend gave her the brandied fruit to eat over cake or ice cream. Couldn't get pass the smell of it, never ate it. 
It's a pass for me, too. I have never liked alcohol in any desserts. The only way I can tolerate it is when it is cooked in a dish or in a cocktail glass!
