We wanted to get a large beef tenderloin, as we usually do for Christmas.
Wegmans had a large display case...many were over $150!!!!
I settled for a small cut - 2.5 pounds - which was still $55.
Anyone else surprised by the cost of beef???? No wonder we don't eat much red meat.

I lucked up and bought a beautiful prime rib that had been marked down as a "Manager's Special" in my grocery store! At the regular price it would have been $85. The Kroger "card price" was about $55. The markdown price was about $38. Made my holiday week. And boy, was it good!

I would be nervous about cooking $150 worth of beef...what if I ruined it???
Congrats on your great buy!

That's about what they are for whole tenderloins.

Whole tenderloins were 8.99/lb and rib roasts were $6.99/lb w/coupon at my grocery store. My rib roast looks great, but I have not cooked it, yet.

Sounds like you got a beef with the exhorbitant prices.

Prime rib at our local HEB was 7.97/lb this Christmas. I don't think that is excessive for a prime cut of beef.
