Crab Meat From Louisiana?

I saw some little tubs of crab meat from Louisiana the other day at a market. They SAID they were from the USA, but they had a suspiciously long shelf life. Have any of you had something like this? I forget what the brand was, and it is a market I don't go to often. I almost bought some. . . but though I'd ask first!

Thanks if you have tried this type of crab product and can give me a review!

Canned crab meat? Wouldn't buy it! Even if it was from the west coast and was lovely dungeness crab meat. Fresh crab meat is worth wait & price.

i try to buy maryland crabmeat, but i have bought crabmeat from louisiana before. it is usually pasteurized and that is why it has a longer shelf life.

Thanks for the answers. This is in the little plastic clear tubs. And fresh is always better but in Oklahoma, not often possible.
