Are you kidding?

Most awful things I ever tasted in my life

You mean the Bobby Chez crab cakes. I couldn't believe it either. Well, I could believe it. Nine dollars for a crab cake is a tad high, but I wonder how big 3 oz. is. At any rate, the overall price, $90 for ten, scared me away.

I wouldn't shell out that kind of money.

I don't mean to sound crabby, but not for that lump sum! : )

I can't imagine why anyone would pay so much; crab cakes are very easy to make, and if you don't feel like bothering, Earth Fare often has them on sale 3/$5.

I agree! The food prices here are very high.
I can't believe no one started attacking you about this thread. I started one last week about the outrageous price (""featured price $65.00) for 2 3-4lb turkey br east. Retail price was $90.00! You would have thought I criticized everyone's mother! They were all saying that I shouldn't criticize someone for be able to pay that price. But not ONCE in my original post did I say anything about that! But I so agree with the price of the crab cakes. I've never had these particular ones but they do not look very appealing. I prefer ""traditional"" ones myself...

Who was selling this $9 crab cake? How did they justify the cost?

I have no idea what crabcakes should cost because I buy them only occasionally and then I'm in a restaurant and someone else bought them, cooked them, served them, and cleaned up.
It's not the price per patty shutting me out - on a per cake comparison to a restaurant, that's cheap. I wouldn't ever want 10 at a time though - I eat alone very often and don't know a whole lot of my friends who would come eat crabcakes with me no matter how good, no matter the price. Kind of like buying liver for ten - not in my house!
