I have an Asian pear tree and this year it's just loaded with pears. We must have several thousand. We keep thinning pears because the branches are collapsing. I've never had a crop like this. Normally we just eat what we can and give the rest to a food bank. But I'd like to be able to can some or do something with them so they'd last for part of the winter, at least.
Anybody have any ideas? I make all kinds of jam, and this year, apple sauce,(the trees around here are loaded with apples too). So I can. I just don't know how, jam, jelly, pear bread? I just need to figure out something to use them for.
Also, I have 6, 10' tomato plants. That will be my next question. They're green now but hundreds of tomatoes to come.
I think this all because of the drought here. I think all these plants and trees think they're going to die and they're trying to reproduce.
Thanks in advance, if you have any ideas.
