Paging Adoreqvc: regarding golden mushroom soup

Hi AdoreqvcSmiley Happy I have a question for you. There was a thread somewhere here where you explained that golden mushroom soup has tomato and wine. It occurred to me that I have never had, or made, golden mushroom soup. I love mushrooms, but I can't say I'm a fan of canned soups. I researched it online and all of the recipes use milk! I'm sure they are good, but that's not what I want. Do you have a recipe or ideas where I could find one? Thanks, Poodlepet

Re: Paging Adoreqvc: regarding golden mushroom soup

I started that thread because I read that Golden Mushroom Soup doesn't have milk in it. I want to use it for casseroles.

I'm going to use this instead of using condensed cream of (whatever) soup.

I'm not planning on adding milk.

I am going to use it to put over beef tips in the crockpot, sheppards pie (without cheese or milk), etc.

I'm going to use it for recipes I already have that call for creamed soups.

I would also like any recipes anyone has to offer that is dairy free using this soup.

I just hope I can find it tonight!

Thanks for bringing this topic up again.

Oh, another idea I had is to use it and make tuna noodle casserole. For the creaminess, I'm going to add a glob of soy sour cream.

Mima another idea for you is to used unsweetened nut milks-and they are available prepared. I have a Vitamix which I like a lot, but it is useful for things like this. We have a weekend getaway, and I love it- but I also love cooking. I did not wasn't to spend a fortune for another Vitamix. I ended up getting a Ninja pro system, and it is a performer. No, it does not have the warranty that Vitamix offers, but it offers a lot.....for example, in their recipe book, they say you can make raw almond butter. Vitamix says you can't. I mill my own flour in the Vitamix and when I bought mine, it came with the dry container. (That alone is around seventy bucks). I have not tried milling flour in the Ninja, but I plan on it. I'm just saying either machine might be worthy of your consideration......so many foods have milk.... Poodlepet

Poodlepet,

Take a look at these links and on the 1st one look under variations for the tomato wine information..... These are home made recipes I have used many times, and they are all delicious.

I also ensure they are not made with too much salt.

Adoreqvc, I did indeed visit those sites: they use milk in their recipes. The pictures even show it-I don't see how they pass as "golden".....but as I am typing, I just came up with a brilliant idea! I will research some Kosher cooking sites;-) anybody has a recipe that's milk free, they will. Thank you, Poodlepet

I used to have a recipe that used rice, the amount of water for the rice, put 4 pork chops on top, then sliced onions, The golden mushroom soup and then cook until the rice and chops are done. I have microwaved, baked and used the slow cooker. Sorry I don't have the times.

Deb, that's a hot dish. I make that frequently with simmer sauces instead of soup. In the oven, 375 for 45 minutes. That's my standby dish. I use pork chops or chicken thighs.
