Soda Stream - anyone get it yet?

Started 1351815055.093 in Kitchen & Food Talk | Last reply 1352656109.247 by Lori K

Mine hasn't shipped yet from HSN. That's unusual.

I can't wait to get it!

Hi! Haven't gotten mine yet, either, but I tracked the package. It is in Illinois, so I am thinking I will probably get it tomorrow. Just in time for the weekend. Hope you get yours soon. Did you get red or black? I ordered the red. By the way, someone (maybe the host/vendor) said to use chilled water, so I need to sign off and go put some water in the refrig.

I got it a few months ago when it was a TS. It's fabulous! I think you'll really like it.

We got ours today ( was surprised since I am in NYC and this was the first delivery I got since the hurricane). My boyfriend said it was very good - I haven't tried it yet. It does need chilled water. We got the black. Glad I purchased it.

I bought it a couple months ago as well. I've been enjoying it a lot.

I found a good deal on extra 1 liter bottles on eBay.

The only flavor that I didn't like (not sure if the same assortment is coming with newer orders) was the Crystal Light Energy Drink Mix....yuck!!

But the machine works great, and I love being able to make the water fizzier.

A few hints:

• be sure to add your flavored syrup or other stuff AFTER the carbonating.

• do it over the sink

• tilt the bottle of water to pour the syrup down the side of the bottle. I had a big bubbling/fizzing over problem the first time I added the flavor.

• do not fill the bottle fuller than the wavy line that marks the "fill" line.

Enjoy your SodaStreams!

I've had mine for awhile. Chilled water is recommended, but it does work just fine if the water is not chillled. Enjoy it! {#emotions_dlg.sleep}

Ordered it on HSN when it was Today's Special (Saturday?), anyway I got mine today too! Shocking since I live in Queens. Haven't tried it yet. Where is everybody getting their CO2 cartridges? BB&B? Costco, Target? How much do they charge?Last edited on 11/1/2012

Hi. I haven't had to buy a cannister yet, but I plan to go to Staples. They do exchanges for around $15, or you can buy one with no empty to swap for about $30. I plan to do an exchange AND buy a full one so I'll always have a backup.

My DD wants one for Christmas, so thanks for your input.

I emailed HSN. I've never had to do that before, usually I get it really fast.

I ordered the red one. I've been on a red small appliance kick for a few years now.

Thanks for the tips!

Ladies,

I urge you to NOT use this sodastream, as all the diet flavors contain ASPARTAME, which we all know now is a neurotoxin, and has been linked to brain tumors, and lymphomas. It is a bad bad chemical, that eventually turns to formaldeyde in your body.

The sugar varieties can't be that good for you either.

Please don't give this stuff to your family.

If you want a similar taste, just buy some club soda and mix it with real fresh juices.

i received my box today.... i think it takes a bit longer to deliver because of special handling (because of the small tank..... there are warnings all over the box) AND because of the storm. i cannot wait to play around with it!

From the website SodaStream.com

Regular sodamix flavors contain less sugar, calories, carbohydrates and sodium than national drink brands. Regular flavors contain no high-fructose corn syrup, and are sweetened with a blend of sugar and sucralose. Diet sodamix flavors contain no sugar, no aspartame and are sweetened with Splenda® brand sweetener. Sparkling Naturals are sweetened exclusively with cane sugar.

Thanks so much for the ingredients.

I don't do Splenda so I won't be buying any of those. I don't have any issues with sugar. I'm not sure about sucralose. I'll have to research that.

Sparkling Naturals sound good. I don't usually drink juice but would consider adding juice. I'll see what my guys want.

We bought the Soda Stream several months ago at Bed, Bath and Beyond. We didn't like the flavors, so returned it. If the "diet cola" flavor tasted like Diet Coke, I would have kept it.

I buy the refill carbonaters from the Soda Stream Co.,

I get the large 130L refills 3 at a time so that I do not

run out... We drink lots of water...

You can pick up the small carbonater at Bed & Bath...

some Sears & Targets...

We carbonate 4 bottles & keep them in the fridge, and if

I want a flavored drink I put some flavoring in a glass and

then fill it with cold carbonated water... I only flavored a whole

bottle once in the 3 years that we own the Soda Stream..

Still waiting on mine. This is the longest it has taken anything to arrive that I've ordered from HSN. Maybe it will come today....

I received mine earlier but just now took it out of the box. I thought I remembered the steps from watching the demonstration a few times. Everything was going great until I inserted the full water bottle to carbonate it. I made sure the prong was down into the water and then pressed the button firmly. {#emotions_dlg.scared} Most of the bottle contents shot forcefully out of the bottle all over me and the floor.{#emotions_dlg.laugh} Common sense should have told me to scr#ew the bottle in first before pressing the button! What a mess!

I decided to try the rootbeer first and it's delicious! Smile

Mine came on Monday as HSN promised.

Hectic week. I haven't tried it yet----Tomorrow!

Kzeks good info!

santorini - LOL and thanks for the reminder about scr#ewing the bottle in.

We did the energy drink and cola! {#emotions_dlg.thumbup} Even DS that teases me about my kitchen gadget addiction thinks it is great. I need more bottles - lol.
