VitaMix vs. Blendtec

Started 1325878947.557 in Kitchen & Food Talk | Last reply 1326728414.083 by 4uthebest

Recently purchased vitamix and have been very happy with it, but I just saw demonstration at Costco of the Blendtec and am intrigued by it. Does anyone have experience with both to give comparison.

My VitaMix does everything I could ask. Made in USA, 7-year warranty and superb customer service.

I've seen quite a few good posts about them in here, but I also have a Vitamix.

The Blendtec has a stronger motor and an eight year warranty which also caught my attention.

Great, but what do they cost, and where do you get them? Are they American made too, with a long history? {#emotions_dlg.blink}

Blentec's have been around for many years. I believe they're out of Utah. Not sure if they make them there or not.

LilyBell2, thank you for posting this. I love my Vitamix but wondered what the detailed differences were in it and the Blentec. Now I know, and am convinced that I made the right choice.

You're very welcome.

Thanks for the comparison chart. That is a very nice tool. I, too, am glad I chose Vitamix (I have the 5200 model with the compact container).

As you can see, and this plays out with all appliances, the wattage doesn't really determine power at all. You find a lot of cheaply made appliances that boast higher wattage than their higher quality counterparts. It's just a sales point targeting people who don't know better.

I own a BlendTec and just love it...make a green smoothie every morning...it sits on my counter and is used at least once a day....most days more then that...Tess

For what its worth, my niece is a pastry chef at the Ritz-Carlton in Washington and her husband is a chef at Eric Ripert's restaurant down there, and they both vote for Vitamix.

PS All BlendTec blenders are made in the US. The price range for either is in between $400-500.

One thing that has not been mentioned at all is that Blendtec now has a new container and blade that makes it much more efficient than the one that is compared to the VM 5200 The new Blendtec 4" blade and 75+ oz container is a great advancement.

Good comparison of the two is seen here if you ignore the hairdo of the presenter

Thanks for posting. This really makes my choice of the Vitamix ( the Creations II), the right one. {#emotions_dlg.thumbup}

The boy does need a comb. Personally I never trust a review from someone who says "We are the only one who has it" Also in the side by side the girl didn't put it on high speed untill the end and then it caught up to the other. An extra piece of spinach would make it darker. Tricks. Although I do think the Blentec is probably a great machine also.

I purchased the original Vitamix at least 30 or 35 if not more years ago. It has no plastic parts and even the carafe is stainless steel. I still have the recipe book that came with it. If yours lasts as long as mine it's worth the price. My Vitamix is as good now as the day I bought it. Great product IMO. {#emotions_dlg.thumbup}

Indeed the videos are a riot, but now that Blendtec has the much more efficient 4" blade with larger container, it would be nice to see another set of tests and I am certain that there would be a considerable difference among the individual tests.
