Yes, We got some new slots that take in coins, but pay out in pearls... I was over there this morning using my tip money. Didn't get any pearls in payouts, but I am optimistic.

They replaced the ball in the roulette wheel with a big black tahitian... Pretty

WOW it has been awhile since I was able to stop into the cafe for a cup of Decaf.... love the new Pearl Cafe..... alot of changes I see.

I hope everyone is well, and good to see the PQ'S still posting and enjoying their love of pearls.

Well things have changed somewhat for me since I last stopped in for a visit. I was offered a wonderful job, which I could not refuse, so needless to say I am busy, and working very hard. The wonderful thing about my new job is I work with my DH so life is good.... I am wearing all my pearls everyday, and no new pearls have been added. I have taken on a project tho, I have gone to my trusted jeweler and she has put these wonderful 14k gold magnets on each one of my strands. These magnets will never betray me, they are like opening fort knox, but no more fiddling with those nasty fish hooks. I LOVE that I did this to my strands. I wear them without worry of loosing them too. Every week I took two strands to be done, and I only have one more strand to go my lavenders. These magnets are the same size and shape of my pearls so you can not even tell from looking at them they blend in with my pearls. My golden Akoya's have a yellow gold magent etc....

My big purchase has been these devine 14k yellow gold lever back citrine earrings. OMG they were love at first site for me. IMPULSE BUY but I will get every penney' s worth of them. These are the kind of earrings I will wear the rest of my life... The citrine is Madera Citrine, with a cut I can not even explain. They were a BIG purchase, but what the heck I'm working now right

I truly hope you all had a wonderful summer, and a great fall ahead. Think of you all often, infact everytime I slip one of those pearl necklaces on I think of the Queens and Kings...

ladycd - Nice to hear from you! I'm glad you got a job you love working with your DH but who's the boss? Neither of you - or both?!?!??! Guess you can't gossip around the water cooler about your marriage!! Glad to hear you're wearing pearls everyday and getting magnetic clasps for them! Much, much easier than standard pearl clasps. Did you get your citrine earrings at Q? Would love to see a picture/link!!

Stopped by for an afternoon cup of java to pick me up! Everything looks great. Ezzy you do come up with wonderful additions.

Newberry boy that enhancer is just beautiful Love the color I think you will become a pearl designer! Thank you PQ’s for posting the pics. Dreamy and I know you must be anxious to receive it when they are done.

Sweet Susie- Haven’t been over to take a peek, as I just purchased the gem white strand and earrings for my DD wedding. Might show her them tonight. Even if she just wears the earring depending on the type dress she ends up with, it will be a gift to her. Boy I will have to borrow them as I don’t even have a gem set!

Katie Girl- Nice to hear you are working in a stress free job that you like. Hard to come by that’s for sure so congratulations on the win and the job!

Imaluckylady- do tell what Tah you are working on. I do have earrings but someday will get a pendant. PQ's have to keep dreaming

Lavenderjunkie- Are you still layering all your pearls? I see them all over now but none as fashionable as you have described in the past

Ezzy- I am so sorry but I got up very early and snuck into the pearl casino and I did hit some pearl loot. A few 7mm golden akoyas. That brought a smile to my face

Lady CD- nice you had the clasp changed as I was never good with the fishhook types but the balls and hook I can manage. Glad you bought a pair of Madeira citrine earrings. I have a Madeira ring I bought ages ago and snagged a pair of Lagos Madeira earrings from e bay at a wonderful price. Just happened to be lucky that day for sure

Boy do I miss working, and that wonderful paycheck. If this current storm out here takes down my last remaining tree I will be out of my mind! We just replanted to avoid the town fines and in the end with the clean up, permits, crew it was over 4 grand. That would have made a nice deposit on a rare strand of pearls for sure, but actually was needed to keep up with indoor projects.

Seems the knee surg was not successful. I was told up front but took the chance. One thing is the pain is no longer knife stabbing all the time so some good was done. The fix shoulder healed displaced so will never be the same. I am just looking at this as God telling me over and over nursing is done.

I will have to see what I can reinvent myself to do. I haven’t filed for SSD as I have to wait to see if DH will pass the test for the last time. Every six yrs has been horrible and at 62 you are taking it with new grads. He has never worked in OBS (edited by webbie ) and peds and as everything has changed in that world he had to study a lot. So I am holding off as 2 out of work will be the worst case scenario

Well keeping all the PQ’s and PK in my thoughts and prayers. It is nice to stop by and read all the news. Now I have no place to wear my pearls as I don’t want to damage them with the moist heat and then ice they place on my shoulder.

DD just called and invited us over to watch a movie tonight. I wonder if there will be news she wants to deliver or just misses our hanging out time we used to catch now and then. Boy her fiancée loves to clean. Think we can use him at the café so the PQ’s that have been working so hard can take a break!

Very pretty. But I already have several Tahitian pendants, so I think I'll pass on this one. I think this might be my time to finally get a metallic strand, since I'm not coveting much of anything else at the moment.

Newberry, Do you know if the souffle`pearls will be available in strands? If they are created with pond slime, how thick can you expect the shell to be when they drill the hole and the slime is removed? I was wondering if Blair spoke about them at the Pearl Ruckus last summer.

Hi Ezzy, I have not heard if or when the souffle's will be available. They are a new technique the Chinese are experimenting with. They are expensive and not really abundant yet. They were talked about in passing at the Ruckus with examples shown on slides. The talks were amazing between Blaire, Sea of Cortez Pearls - Douglas, Renee Newman author of the "Pearl Buying guide" to name a few. Looking forward to who talks next year. I will ask that question about nacher when I see Jeremy in late October or early November that is after he drills it next week. I have heard that when the fluid drains it is very, very smelly.

Forgot to tell you, while driving home last week we went though Waynesville,NC in the smokey mountains. We stopped for breakfast and had to walk by a independent jewelers on the way to the cafe. They had the front door open and pearls were placed in the case next to the door which drew me in. They had pretty pearls which were were marked with a tag Chatham. I have seen Chatham created gemstone jewelry but not pearls and was surprised and confused.

I was then going to ask the saleswoman about them for more information to find out if they were glass, created/ faux or genuine cultured but my attention got diverted. Right next to the pearls were Chatham created padparadscha. OMG so beautiful. There was a onion shaped padparadscha pendant who's orange with pink flashes I couldn't get over. This picture of the pendant doesn't do it justice. I have other created chatham gemstones but not padparadscha. I did find a vendor who sells Chatham pad gemstones to jewelers and I am considering buying some 6mm loose stones to have installed into a ring and lever back earrings I already own with like size cz's in them.
