Why don't they ever mention where a gemstone falls on the hardness scale???

It just seems to me that this is important info., and they rarely (if ever) mention it. I know I won't buy beryl stones because I like to wear my jewelry a lot and I don't want soft stones.

You might want to look into that. Beryls (aquamarine, morganite, and yes, emerald) are around 7.5-8 on the Mohs scale.

Why don't you request that they do so?

Beryl is not so soft, you can have it in rings and bracelets. Chrome diopside you should never have in bracelet and even ring if you wear it daily.Very soft. And Q is terrible about explaining of the products, they know their clientele would buy anyway so they do not even teach their hosts .

On gem day the talked about the hardness of the stones several times. Again, it's an easy thing to google the information.

Ditto what desertdi said. They used to be good about imparting gemstone and precious metal information. Just like they used to be good about presenting a wide assortment of gemstone jewelry.
