CREEDE SILVER - IS IT JUST ME?

Started 1349113689.087 in Jewelry Talk | Last reply 1349197007.87 by Fluffy_2

I started scrolling through the preview items, and I admit I did not look closely at all of the pieces, because so many said "simulated" and other undersirable descriptions. Why in the world can't there be pure silver pieces - or maybe I should say pure gem/silver quality pieces - on Creede Silver Day?

Back in the day, this used to be such a fabulous 24-hr event that MANY of us LOVED but not so much anymore. It's no longer 24 hours and it's not at all like it used to be. Don't know why it's not 24hrs - we all know how much fabulous Italian silver there is, not to mention from other countries who specialize in it.

It's truly very sad about how it's no longer a full day, and it's also no longer "everyday" silver that we all know & love and MISS! I used to take this day off just to be glued to the tube and not miss any of it - not anymore.

And this year I won't be buying anything offered tomorrow either, not my silver style and much is too expensive for what it is.

I agree with you both completely! But...I noticed they've brought back a set of diamond bangles that I bought several years ago (J6020) during a Creede event. Mine were in all silver (2 sets) so I'm a little leary about the rose and yellow gold clad. But I'm telling you the sets I have now, have to be the best purchase I've made anywhere! I get stopped constantly...people have offered to buy them off my wrist and I've been trying to get the buyers to bring them back. So...I guess I'll see when they arrive!

I also saw that a lot of the pieces have "simulated diamonds" (crystal?) instead of Diamonique. I never saw this before and I guess it is another way to cut costs.{#emotions_dlg.thumbdown}

This too shall pass.

I looked today to and nothing special, boring pieces.

Everything is the same old stuff. Very plain and generic...BORING!

Silver is starting to get very pricey. Expecting it to get worse. They are probably wanting to keep costs down. People expect silver to be less expensive!

Price of silver is driving the shows. I can see why the Q has moved to technology, cosmetics, clothing, bags, shoes and food. I would love to be a fly on the wall in the board room discussing what to see and how to make a profit on it. My money is on cosmetics.

Sorry, but I'm saving my money. Flashlight season is fast approaching!

Probably and that Diamonique has a lifetime warranty. {#emotions_dlg.glare}

I'm also disappointed that Silver Creede and BBSD. Silver Style are no longer. Personally, I have plenty of s......jewelry from past yrs. I like everyday pieces. However, I'll be watching some of the 16 hrs.......

I think cosmetics, too. How many times do we try a new product, and then stuff it in the drawer and try something else? Anyone else staggered by the prices on moisturizers?

iheartGoldens, good point about the DMQ warranty. I noticed too many crystal items in the recent Vicenza shows.

no, it is not just you!!! All of us who are QVC fans recall from 5 or more years ago the "24 hours of all new sterling silver jewelry" when the hosts all dressed in the costumes of the era and they showed historical snippets throughout thw day. I loved it!!! One year I think it even went to 25 hours. Maybe that was even longer ago than 5 years. I too used to take a day off from work just to shop. I did have to send a lot back to keep from breaking the bank but I also kept a lot of big beautiful pieces from those days and I miss them. Glad I got them when I did. The price of silver has made it impossible to repeat those wonderful shows so the Q is doing what they can to keep bringing the show to us. I 'll still watch some but won't take the day off.

On the bright side, I'm seeing a lot of new EZP offers. Items on my wishlist, now on EZP.

I didn't see anything that rattled my cage either. QVC doesn't seem to care anymore what their customers want. These "events" are no longer special. The days used to be called Creede Silver Strike, Big Bonanza Silver Day, Klondike Gold Rush, etc. They think we're not smart enough so they have to insert the word sale (MARKETING PLOY ONLY) so we'll know they're special prices. None of these events seem to warrant 24 hours anymore (except for Fashion Day that is & yes I guess the Sterling Designer Event was a day too). Shoot, even St. Patrick's Day isn't a 24 hour event anymore. They treat long time vendors like Kirk's Folly like poor stepchildren who aren't worth the time or effort. It's really a shame.

Well, the events were once all brand new merchandise. Now, it's a lot of old, existing inventory, on sale. {#emotions_dlg.sad}

It looks like items that did not sell well or clearance items that have been around for a few years. It will be interesting to see what they offer.

Oh my gosh ncterp, I did the same thing. I used to LOVE those shows with the western sets and costumes and beautiful, heavy, real silver jewelry. My daughters and I would always find something that we loved. We have a lot of beautiful silver pieces from those shows. Remember those heavy byzantine bracelets? So many of the pieces were made in the USA back then.

I am seeing some pretty and new pieces at reasonable prices (not hollow or resin/silicone filled). More items have been added since yesterday and there are some others being saved for throughout the day's presentation. There are some earrings that have yet to emerge on .com that I am eagerly waiting for.

I purchased these early this a.m. during the kickoff show. They looked so pretty on Iris. I am a long time Q buyer and sometimes I just want a plain, non designer all silver earring. The things I purchased from Silver shoes years ago have flown away(?) and some days I just want a plain old silver earring. It is true that things aren't like they used to be but I thought they still had some nice items. Likes all of Q's products you need to pick and choose

I like that bracelet also, great weight and width. This a.m. Rick presented this bracelet and it caught my eye. It looked like you could see through it. The Italians certainly make wonderful items.

I too miss the all-day excitement, though a lot of items on the silver days were always rather flimsy looking. (ETA: Remember the "12 threadlike bracelets for $20.00--great for gifts" pitch?)

Three of the online items called me. I've been saving up for a jewelry splurge.

Ultrafine silver is great in my book--I got the TSV in 16", the "twist" bangle that looks a bit Yurmanesque, and the M-F bangles with Affinity diamonds. All are on easy-pay. Haven't spent this much on a jewelry event in years.
