I think it's from a dove. I often get somebody nesting on my VPH wreath on my front door. Either robins or doves. Robins are neat nesters, but doves are very untidy. They both nested there earlier in the spring, (first the robins, then the doves), but it's been quiet for a while.

One of the moms must have carried over the empty eggshell, I'm sure you all know, as the birds carry away the eggshells so they distract attention from the real nest location.

A package was expected, but not this sweet little surprise!

I had a house wren build a nest in my wreath one year. It I use a wreath that has something that looks like berries, the birds tear it apart trying to detach them.

I can't put wreaths outside because the wildlife would overtake the pretty wreath. Cuban white frogs - small snakes and bugs are everywhere around our house (Fl) not to even mention geckos and chameleons.

good grief....HH....how the heck do snakes...frogs...geckos get up into a wreath...aren't they land creatures....
