I have some flower seed packets.....violas, poppies and maiden pinks. My question is can they be planted in pots in good soil OR must they be planted in garden beds in the ground only? I like the color they will add and I can move around the pots where needed. Thanks...

I've seen violas and poppies in pots, never heard of maiden pinks.

Maiden pinks are another word used for Dianthus which is a member of the carnation family but much much shorter in size.

Almost anything can be planted in pots in good soil, but they need watering more often than plants in the garden soil, so just be aware of this. There should be a hole in the bottom of any pot, with a shard of clay pot over it, for drainage.
