I am going to a doctor Tuesday. What can I expect? My legs are in pain everyday. They are ok when sitting. Only when I walk.

Just curious as to whether you have an actual diagnosis yet for your leg pain? I thought I remembered a referral to a vascular specialist.

halfpint: Has anyone mentioned "claudication" to you??? Do both your legs bother you at the same time, when you are walking???

Has your PCP mentioned sending you to a Vascular Surgeon??? Please don't ignore these symptoms. You could have blockages in your legs. It's important to have it checked ASAP. You have been complaining about this for quite awhile now.

Please follow up with the right specialist and let us know the outcome. I hope you get things resolved sooner than later.... Good Luck...Smile

ETA - If you go to a Vascular Surgeon, he'll take your blood pressure in your legs and maybe use a doppler, sort of like an echocardiogram. Then, he might even put you on a treadmill right there in his office. Nothing to worry about - but at least you'll get a diagnosis..... Again, wishing you nothing but the best......{#emotions_dlg.thumbup}

Are you seeing your Primary Care Physcian (PCP) or a pain management doctor? Are you going to get a diagnosis? There could be various reasons why your legs hurt, possible sciatica, spinal stenosis, etc. You need to talk to your doctor and advise him of all of your symptoms, when they started, any new physical activities, etc. Good luck to you.

I saw my primary doctor and I was the one who asked for pain management since a lot of people claimed it was good. At a clinic I was told the address was for a vascular doctor. I am so mixed up. No one ever diagnosed my pain. I was waiting for this skin cancer thing to get done with and seek a new primary doctor. Thanks sophiamarie for explaining things.

halfpint: You really need to see a vascular doctor before you go to a pain management clinic. If you have "claudication" then it has to be taken care of. The pain in your leg(s) will be gone instantly. You won't have to go to a pain management doctor then.

BTW, do you smoke???

Please have your PCP refer you to a Vascular Surgeon. It's a piece of cake, trust me. There is a reason you have pain in your leg(s) and just taking pain pills isn't going to solve or cure the problem - it will just take care of the symptoms.

Please don't put it off too long. Smile

sophiamarie what is claudication? Is it an operation?

I quit smoking 45-50 years ago and it never was much.

halfpint: Agree with the others that you need a diagnosis before you can be treated. I don't even know if pain management docs will do anything for you. Can you call your PCP Monday and ask for a referral to a Vascular Surgeon.

Here is a link to claudication signs and symptoms. If this doesn't show up as a link, please copy and paste it into your browser.
