My elderly neighbor - somewhere in her 70's - had a knee replacement 3 weeks ago. Ever since then she has been taking oxycontin. I know when I was in the hospital for those 3 days, that's what they gave me, but as soon as I was released they changed it to Percoset. Three weeks for an elderly person seems like a very long time for this medication. She seems to be getting around OK, but boy is she loopy! Wow! Most of the time she makes no sense at all. I'm hoping today when her physical therapist goes in she will notice this and say something perhaps to her doctor. I do not think she should be over there alone and her daughter only comes for about 2 hours a day to get her meds. and groceries.
