Love using real leaves for fall decorating. When the kids were young, we lived where there was a huge maple tree in the yard and the large leaves were gorgeous. We didn't have much money in those days, so I used leaves quite a bit.

Years ago for a school project we melted paraffin (used for making candles) and just dipped each leaf in the hot paraffin and then lay it on some wax paper to dry. Worked beautifully.

You can also buy silk Fall leaves sold in packages of assorted sizes from Michaels or NL. This way it can used for more then one year.

from the comments:

modge poge each leaf after it is dry then mount to the board–it will last for years and the leaves retain there color and softness as the day you collected them.

i would have it framed instead of open-faced like hers so that it would be behind glass and that would help preserve it,too.
