Most cat owners don’t know it, but lilies are lethally toxic to cats.
In fact, they’re so poisonous that a cat can suffer fatal kidney failure just from biting into a lily leaf or petal, licking lily pollen from its paws, or drinking water from a vase with cut lilies in it.

Amazing how all these feral cats seem to live forever.

It is amazing. I was going to plant more lilies to help control neighbor cats (that are let outside to do their business by their lazy owners). And then your note brought me back to earth. I don't think it will work...

I do care about cats. I have 7 ferals that we had fixed and set up shelter for and feed for the last 8 years now.

You're welcome.
Vets warn that Easter lilies, Easter "grass" and CHOCOLATE are dangerous to pets.
Just reminding everyone to make sure to keep these things away from pets.
Have a Happy Easter!

Thank you for this informative and timely warning OP.
My Hobo will snack on anything. I almost bought a pot of lilies that were in bloom at Wal Mart over the week end. They smelled so good. I'm glad I didn't now.
It's very sweet of you to remind everyone and to inform those who didn't know.

this is a timely and important safety notice. we have always found our cats wanting to be curious of plants. and usually try to nibble at them. this pollen of these beautiful flowers is deadly. thank you jeremiah. you are kind.

Thanks for the post. Replies bump it up, to keep it in the forefront. I'd guess they are poisonous to birds too? I don't have any lilies this year but will look it up nonetheless. Birds in my house! - Bird

Are hostas also poisonous? They're a form of lily, I think.
