Trolls on the boards

Gotta use that Report Inappropriate to let Webbies know if your sure theyre trolls.

There are trolls a plenty on these boards, but today, Q is doing a Keurig giveaway. People have to create and account and post on the Kitchen Blog to enter. That's why so many newbies today.

It IS annoying! Any monitored board should not have this problem but they don't seem to care.

What furthers the problem GREATLY is all the people who react to the trolls in threads, instead of completely ignoring them. If people didn't play their game it would no longer be fun for them and they would move on. But this board is rich with internet newbies, and others, who will play along, react, and generally perpetuate trollage.

How do you define a troll? Seems like sometimes on some boards it is just a poster who doesn't happen to agree with everyone else especially on more controversial issues. I see the word used a lot, but honestly don't know what people mean by it.

Yes, Chickenbutt, I agree that we can be our own censors. I simply choose to ignore some people (not just on these boards!).

Scotnovel - You could Google it and find the official definition of internet troll. But it's basically those who post FOR THE EXPRESS PURPOSE of creating contention. They want to rile people up just to create in-fighting and people expressing their disgust at the things the troll says.

It's most likely people who do not do well in real life and cannot get along with others - people whose only way to feel good about themselves is to try and tear down others with name-calling and other attacks.

There are a certain group of posters that think they own the board. They only want their opinions expressed and if you disagree with them they will attack you relentlessly and make ugly comments on seemingly benign posts. They are the mean girls and you will get to know them quickly. You can't debate with them you just need to ignore them. I do and it has made posting here a pleasant place to visit.

It's freedom of speech.

It also gets really old that certain posters on these boards scream "troll" everytime someone doesn't agree with them, and refuses to be bullied by their rude attitudes.

If you are on here long enough, you can figure out who never has anything positive to say, who just has strong opinions and wishes to voice them, and who is really a troll looking to incite a riot. It's just easier to ignore the last.
