What do you consider a Clearance Price?

I logged onto QVC this morning and saw the "Designer Fashion Clearance" banner. In checking some of the offerings, as usual, I found lots of items with minimal markdowns. For instance, a Joan Rivers scarf with a regular price of $39.50, clearance price of $32.94, approximately 16% off. To me, that's not a clearance price, it's more like a price reduction or a markdown. I would consider a sale price to be around 20% - 30% and a clearance price 40% and above.

What kind of markdown do you expect to see when something is marked "Clearance"?

I think 50% off should be the minimum to be considered a "Clearance" price. To be fair, QVC isn't the only one to just take a few dollars off and call it clearance. I've gotten catalogs that considered 5% off to be clearance!

I agree. I expect a clearance price to be low, as in, lets move this out of here no matter how much the price. One can't make a huge profit on old, dead merchandise that needs to be cleared out for the new things.
