Do you wear sweaters over long sleeve shirts?

Yesterday, I put on a v-neck sweater over a long sleeve, button down shirt. It was so uncomfortable I did not make it out of the bedroom before changing. The sleeves looked terrible, too. Very bunchy. Also, I could not get the sweater to hang properly over the shirt. I see this look in catalogs and love it, but it just doesn't work for me. However, I can wear a sleeveless shirt under a cardigan and be comfortable.

How about you? Do you layer long sleeve tops?

I wear sweaters & fine knit cardigans over long sleeved t-shirts but not over a button down top.

I've tried to do this a few times over the years, but like you, I find it uncomfortable.

Many years ago, a favorite salesperson suggested that I buy a sleeveless button-down shirt to wear underneath sweaters. I never found the right sleeveless shirt, but I've always remembered her idea.

Yes ... but the shirt sleeves have to be ""slippery"" material - e.g. a sweater over a silk blouse or something like liquid knit top. An IM cardigan over a butter knit turtleneck.

I never layer two ""sticky"" fabrics.

No, but I will wear a sweater over a long sleeved knit shirt if it fits close to the arms.

I've tried it, but it's not comfortable and looks "busy" to me.

I think this look is hard for short people to pull off.

I hold on to the cuffs of the button shirt, then put the sweater on or over, whatever.

Yes. Today I actually wore a Ralph Lauren cardigan with a small striped white/blue buttoned blouse. I think to get the right fit it largely depends on the weight of the sweater and the fit of the blouse.
