SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (Wednesday, 2/18)

Good Morning! Another cold day in many places -- good time to be in southern Arizona. No, I'm not trying to rub it in, but this is a great time to be here (weather-wise). Many of our "snow birds"/"winter visitors" are having a wonderful time here versus their other homes where there is extreme cold and ice/snow. Hope all of you in the cold zone are staying safe.

Should be a quiet day around here, which is good. I'll probably go up to COSTCO to pick up some "needs" (hopefully no or few "extras"), as well as go to Curves and for a walk later. Don't think I mentioned it, but my "weigh and measure" at Curves last week went well -- I had gained a pound (fine), but lost some fat.

DH's mail order prescription arrived yesterday, which is good. I was also able to pick up his eye drops and start his treatment. Not too fun -- I can really appreciate how much trouble you had giving the drops to your Mom, twinny. DH isn't resisting, but he has a very difficult time not blinking/closing his eyes when I put in the drops. I am afraid it will be a long three weeks.

Waves to Jean, Kathleen, Arlene, pinky ann, twinny, Susan, Marijane, Gayle, LindaR, Karen, Rosa, and all of our posters and readers.

Hope all of you have a nice day and check in when you have a moment.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (Wednesday, 2/18)

Linda--Thank you for starting the thread. You are making great use of that great weather! Envy, envy! It is good that DH's mail order prescription arrived but hopefully the eye-drop routine will become easier. Good job on the loss of fat measurement. The gain of one pound is likely muscle weight from being more toned.

I was up at 5am which makes no sense when there is no place to go in this weather. It has now just started snowing again but the amount will be small in comparison to the last. We are gearing up for the low temperatures tonight and tomorrow night with tomorrow nights expected to reach a real temperature of minus 16 and that is not the wind chill. I do remember the last time we had temperatures this low which was in the mid 90's. My neighbor's cat got out and since she was unable to search for him, I bundled up and went out in search of him. The hunt was successful.

I could use all this time to do things around the house but the seasonal affective disorder thing has set in bad, and I have lost motivation to do anything except hibernate. I did get an order that the top I had ordered from QVC had shipped, the first order of the year.

In addition, the UPS delivery I've been expecting for two days but continually delayed supposedly will arrive today according to "expected delivery date," which agrees with the date given yesterday. The problem, however, is that the details don't show it making any progress out of Tennessee since the 16th. Either someone isn't scanning at each point or it is still in limbo somewhere with UPS still believing it will arrive at the house today. Time will tell. It isn't anything I need quickly; it is my subscribe and save delivery from Amazon.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (Wednesday, 2/18)

Good morning friends! I feel a little bit better each day and last night was nice. I did go to bed early, just not much energy at the end of the day - but I cooked for my Beloved and it is nice to do that.

It was cold when I got up and windsheilds were frozen, but it should be 60° before the day is done and I'm fine with that. DD hit the ground in NYC and I hope they have a good time, not having money to buy winter clothes for 2 days. They are staying at the Pod Hotel and I hope they are safe and have a wonderful time.

Linda I wondered how the eye drops would work for you. Hopefully he will get used to them quickly. That was funny about the baby yesterday. I noticed the ones at the grocery had a tiny baby to put in them. I ended up taking a piece to a couple that I've always liked seeing in the rv park. I've never spoke to them, but stopped by and knocked and they invited me in and talked for 10 min. They were just as sweet as I had imagined them to be. She was about to cut a piece of her own cake and we ended up trading cakes!

Today is Ash Wednesday, and I'm not sure what I am doing for Lent. Some years I "give something up" but it's quite random since I am not Catholic, and really just try to choose something to do or not do to glorify Jesus and make me think of Him more.

Jean I hope the cat comes back soon. I know I would be distraught about that. Sweet of you to help out.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (Wednesday, 2/18)

Kathleen--The cat incident happened in 1994 or about that time when we last had temperatures as cold as we are expecting. I found the cat. Years later, when the cat's owner was too old and had to move, I adopted the cat. He is now in an urn in my living room. He was a beautiful, loving cat.

I am glad you are feeling better. I heard Jayne this morning say that she was giving up something for Lent but wouldn't divulge what it was when questioned as she said it was private and between her and God. I do hope DD has a good time; those pod style hotels can be great! I had looked at a highly rated one when I was considering going to London but that is no longer on the Bucket List.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (Wednesday, 2/18)

LL, I ams sure that the snow birds are enjoying your weather now. My DH has a classmate that leaves here in January & comes back in March as they dislike the hot weather. It is cold today but nice & sunny. No wind & just a dusting of snow overnight. It is supposed to be cold but sunny tomorrow & then nice on Friday. The eye drops were not fun. Doing them every hour by day & very 2 hours at night was so tiring for me. 4 months seemed like it would never end. It was so much better when we were doing the drops every 4 hours. Mom does them now but I don't think she is getting them in real good by herself. She runs out of them very quickly.

Jean, I am sorry for your very cold weather. We have have been very lucky with our weather. Although it is cold today it is nice & sunny. Sunshine makes all the difference in the world to me as the house is nice & warm. I hope your new top fits good.

RC, I hope you will continue to feel better. It amazes me what some extra sleep does to my system. For the first time ever, we have heated seats, wind shield wipers & mirrors. That probably sounds funny to all of you that live in the warmer climates, but they are sooooooo nice for us in the Midwest.

I am just relaxing today, as I am feeling a little tired right now. Tomorrow I will need to take mom to the eye specialist & then on Friday I get my next infusion. Then I will be so ready for vacation next month.

Hugs to all of you.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (Wednesday, 2/18)

Hi girls! It can't possibly be Wednesday already! {#emotions_dlg.scared}

The dogs woke me up early, whining to be let out. When I did so I was surprised to see everything covered in snow, particularly since none had been forecast. They did their business and came back in - they wanted none of it! {#emotions_dlg.laugh} I went back to bed and when I got up for the day every trace of it was gone; I'd never had known it snowed if I hadn't seen it earlier.

The cold is supposed to continue through the weekend, with snow forecast for the weekend again, but it seems the weatherman never gets it right so I'll believe it when I see it. I have no plans to go anywhere after today, just hibernate, do school work, and enjoy the books I got from the library. Compared to many parts of the country it isn't "horrible" - 20s-30s during the day - but on the town's FB page people are complaining that their little darlings shouldn't be expected to go to school when it's this cold. {#emotions_dlg.rolleyes}

I did pick up my paczki at Publix yesterday; they're now in the freezer. I went to Tractor Supply but the truck hadn't arrived yet and the shelves were bare. I only got a large bag of kitty kibble, and just called to see if the delivery arrived. It did, but they said they didn't get much, so I'll head over in a little while. Afterwards I went to Popeye's as I had a shrimp and chicken craving (although I'm starting to rethink eating chicken after seeing some adorable baby chicks in Tractor Supply); they must have thought I looked undernourished, as they gave me a double helping of fries, 8 shrimp instead of 4, and an extra biscuit. {#emotions_dlg.thumbup1} (No, I didn't eat it all...I brought some home for Angelica.)

Jean, I'm having the same problem with an Amazon delivery. I had ordered two cases of Stevia-sweetened soda for my friend, as it was almost half price for Prime members and she doesn't have Prime. It was supposed to be delivered to her today, but when I checked it was still in Texas.

LindaL, I was going to make a King's Cake for Victor, who does my little odd jobs and who is from NO, but just didn't have the energy. The person who finds the baby is supposed to provide the cake the next year.

My last remaining uncle used to go to Arizona for the winter (He lives in Michigan), but his daughter told me he doesn't want to make the long drive by himself anymore (his wife died a couple of years ago) - just as well, as he's almost 90.

I guess I'd better head out to Tractor Supply and get the cat food; I'm debating whether I want to take Angelica with me, as she spends so much time in her crate - I don't like to leave her outside for long, even with her insulated dog house, and since she's not house-broken yet she doesn't have run of the house. OTOH, it was so nice to be out by myself yesterday and be able to take my time while I ate; I wouldn't mind going for a burger today... Guess I'll play it by ear and see if I can sneak out without the dogs noticing.

Have a blessed day, everyone!

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (Wednesday, 2/18)

Arlene--Unfortunately, our weather people have been very accurate with the forecasts. I know there is a problem with the UPS delivery in the Louisville area or was yesterday. The site still says I'll get the delivery today which was originally to have been yesterday but no sign of it yet....and the tracking details still have it in Tennessee. Enjoy your outing to Tractor Supply; we can't let our fur babies go without.

The funny thing is that part of that subscribe and save order was shipped separately as I guess it was coming from a different area. It was to arrive tomorrow by UPS SurePost but the information online says that it was delivered to the Post Office today. Sorry but I'm not going to the Post Office in this snow to go get Midnight's treats. We are currently having a white out. He still has a supply that will last a couple of weeks.

Waste Management just called to apologize for the lack of service today because of the weather and stated they had rescheduled pick up for tomorrow. Tomorrow won't be better.

DD's newsfeed is starting to fill up with pictures and I'm so jealous!!

Twinny, I absolutely ADORE my heated seats and I'm in Texas! I use them when I'm cramping - this weekend driving with a bit of a fever they were wonderful.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (Wednesday, 2/18)

Jean! You're letting midnight go without treats???? {#emotions_dlg.scared} You sure like to live dangerously!

Well, I picked up a two-month supply of cat food; hopefully they'll have another big sale by then. I did take Angelica - and she charmed everyone she saw. I got her a pork femur as a treat then we came right home. It amazes me that someone either just dumped a sweetheart like her, or made no effort to find her.

Guess I'll finish lunch then take a nap....
