Lots of fashion retail news this week.

Lots of retail news to share today, none of it uplifting:

1) Piperlime is being closed, it's owned by the Gap & it wasn't doing enough business

2) All 127 Jones New York stores are being closed

3) Kate Spade Saturday & Jack Spade stores are all being closed

4) Kylie and Kendall Kardashian to do a line with Top Shop

Discouraging indeed Gardensla.

Gap really messed several years ago - I haven't been back.

Kathleen - as a tall person, I tried Gap cords last year and Old Navy cords last year. The Gap cords were more expensive, but the Old Navy was better quality. What an eye opener for me.

I loved Gap in the "old days." I tried Old Navy and was underwhelmed and haven't been back in a couple of years. I bought a pair of yoga pants to wear to gym ... looked raggy after a couple of washings.

I'd buy accessories in Old Navy ... but not clothes. I get my cords from LandsEnd.

Re: Lots of fashion retail news this week.

I've been disappointed with Gap in recent years. I used to love their clothes. Lately, the prices are still high, relative to other casual clothing stores, but the quality isn't there, nor is the style. I also bought kids clothing there in the past, very well made and cute. They have a new store, Athleta, that is supposed to capitalize on the leisure trend. I don't know how those stores are doing. I've written off Gap.

I out grew the Gap. I remember buying a jean there for $17.00 and so proud of myself for finding that...NOT! I wore is maybe two times and it developed a hole in a non-fashionable area. What a crummy store. I just simply moved on to premium department stores jeans. Ah...so much better!

No one's excited about Kylie's and Kendall's new line?
