SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (SUNDAY, 12/7)

Good morning, shopping friends. Today is the day we remember Pearl Harbor Day, the day that will live in infamy. It is an emotional visit if you ever have the opportunity to visit Pearl Harbor. The oil is still seeping out of the Arizona. One little known fact revealed during one of my visits is that many of those who survived the Arizona choose to be cremated and have their ashes returned to the Arizona to reside with their fallen comrades. There are also other monuments erected to honor the other battleships sunk during the bombing.

Now, to a more pleasant thought. Today is LindaL's birthday, so it is with pleasure that I wish her a Happy Birthday and many, many more. I do hope that yesterday's water line break will not cast a negative shadow on today's celebration.

I'm feeling very good and rested, following the procedure. I do have two doctors appointments this week, one with my primary care physician as a follow up and one with my cardiologist, a required visit every three months.

Out of sight, out of mind. If not watching the Q or doing an item review, I won't be tempted. As a result, I'm watching Dexter streamed from Netflix. I do have that Travelon bag on advanced order to arrive this month. I really didn't need it but my other light weight Travelon bags I use often for travel are beginning to show their wear but are still useful for travel as I like their organization. These are more east/west bags which permit finding items easily. I don't like bags in which the height is almost the same as the width; things go to the bottom and are not easily seen.. For routine use, I don't carry the kitchen sink with me, so, as a result, items can be more easily located.

The sun has finally come out after two days of intense rain, so this will make for a more pleasant day. I plan to spend part of the day seeing what I can send on its merry way or organizing things. I've been so tired from working that I've neglected some things around the house.

Have a great day. If you shop, shop wisely.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (SUNDAY, 12/7)

Good morning ladies, hope all is well.

Jean - Thank you for starting us today, and glad your procedure went well and you are feeling well. Good luck with your other appointments next week.

Yes, I have been to the Arizona, it is quite an experience. If anyone has the opportunity to go, please take advantage of it.

LindaL - Happy Birthday! Do enjoy your day.

Rosa - I am very happy for you, I hope you enjoy the holidays.

I haven't been writing much, I was diagnosed with a herniated disc by my primary physician, and now I need to find a specialist to take care of the problem (surgery), that is something that I have to do on Monday. Yeah, can't get much more exciting than that. I also had a problem with my computer so I had to wait a couple days for my sister to look at it (yes, I am a computer dummy). I got my old laptop out and it was sooooooooo slow, I hated to wait for it to do anything.

Well, I do need to get going and get something productive done here, hope everyone has a great day.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (SUNDAY, 12/7)

Hello All,

Happy Birthday Linda L!

We were without internet for one week but now restored. I missed cyber Monday but it seems that most of the coupon and special offers that I planned to use were extended. We aren't doing anything extensive for Christmas this year and I have the few things that I planned to buy for my husband are now done.

We walked the dog this am, light drizzle but not too bad.

As I mentioned above, tech people here for 7 hours dealing with the internet. I didn't really expect it would take that long but I got a lot of cleaning done while he and my husband were dealing with that issue. My house hasn't looked this clean in a long time.

I hope everyone has a good rest of the weekend.

Gayle--Isn't is amazing the things that can be done when you don't have access to the Internet? I agree that there have been many places extending their times for the special offers or even creating new ones. It is the season that determines if a business goes into the black or red when it comes to the financial tally.

Susan--So sorry about the herniated disc. That can be quite painful and also limits activity. I do hope you have a successful surgery. Like you, I hate to wait for something when I've been used to a faster response.

I'm getting ready to fix some lunch and then I need to do some work. I keep saying that for today but sitting and being lazy is a comfy feeling. I did hide something but now I don't remember where I hid it. Duh!!

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (SUNDAY, 12/7)

Hi girls!

Happy birthday, LindaL! Hope you have a wonderful day.

Glad to hear you're rested and feeling better, Jean. I agree the Arizona Memorial was very moving, although we had a funny experience there. The tour guide was going through his spiel in front of the wall with the names of all those who perished in the attack, and he said "(however many) men died that day, and 66 of them were brothers." One dingbat standing right behind us said to her friend, "My goodness - can you imagine having 66 children?!" {#emotions_dlg.laugh} {#emotions_dlg.rolleyes}

Sorry to hear about your disc, Susan; hope they can get it taken care of quickly.

Gayle, I so agree that one can get so much done without the internet! It seems that once you get on-line "for just a few minutes" you enter a time warp, and ten minutes turns into five hours!

Last night I got some pictures of Angelica posted on FB; it's hard to get her to sit still for more than a few seconds, as she's so excited. I brought her in last night, then when I let her out this morning she was off and running; she went to the dead end of the block, and I was able to capture her easily. I ordered a collar with her name and phone number embroidered on it, but in the meantime I have one that was too big for Autumn that I'm using - wrong name, but at least it has the phone number on it. Autumn got out too; that dog loves kids and was playing with them.

I also got a bunch of things posted on the On-line Yard Sale to Benefit Deployed Troops FB page; please check it out. I have many more things going up this week.

I guess I should get moving; I'm meeting a friend for a late lunch/early dinner at 3 at the Mongolian Grill, then we're going to a concert at my church.

Have a blessed day, everyone!

Arlene--The pictures of Angelica were great. Enjoy your late lunch/early dinner and the concert. You do so much to benefit our troops.

I now have packages on back seat of the car so I can take them to the Post Office the first chance I have to get there when it is open. If I work tomorrow, I'll have 30 minutes to get from work to the Post Office before the window closes.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (SUNDAY, 12/7)

Happy Birthday to LindaL---I remember each year you and a cousin share the same birthday (different years)!

It is gray and blah here today---cooler but not uncomfortable. I went to church and will be home for a while---there is a community chorale concert in my town---I will head over and enjoy the music. They had one last night--but I had been on the go all day and was exhausted when I got home. A lady at church was celebrating her 80th birthday---her daughter gave her a lovely party---I went and stayed until the cake was cut and I had a piece and decided to head for home.

My friend at church with BC is having her surgery tomorrow. Another friend is still dealing with decisions on treatment, etc. I found out about one and the next day the other shared her news.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (SUNDAY, 12/7)

LindaR--Enjoy the music. The birthday party was neat for someone reaching 80. Your presence honored her. I'm sorry that your friend has BC and is facing surgery. Our thoughts and prayers are with her and also your other friend, as well as many others who are facing treatment and/or surgery.

I'm very tired now. This is the first day I haven't taken a rest in the bed during the day since the procedure. I can start taking my prescribed iron supplement again. Time will tell if that will help. I see that my credit card has been charged for the shipping of the free WalMart beauty box. The last one I received had several items I could use, one of which cost more than the shipping.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (SUNDAY, 12/7)

Jean thank you for starting us. I'm glad you have some sunshine today! It is not cold here but no sun and DH is cold.

Susan, so sorry to hear about your back. It sounds very painful. I will keep you in my prayers for quick healing and a wise medical team. I've never liked laptops, just not used to the keyboard I suppose and much more comfortable with my old "dinosaur".

Gayle it is nice to have a clean house. I am trying to weed through the clutter in mine, had to take pics for someone looking to rent a room and realized how awful it looks! lol So glad you got your connection back.

Happy birthday LindaL!!!

I had a good time doing carriage rides but so glad to be home. Last night I was worn out and feeling very bad on the trip home. We got home at midnight and slept until 10am. Now just piddling around the house looking at that stack of gifts to wrap.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (SUNDAY, 12/7)

Good Afternoon/Evening, and thanks for all the birthday wishes. We had "Three Kings Sunday" at church (where people take up children's gifts at the end of the service), and I also took in my gift for the "cactus tree" (like an Angel tree). So it was a special Sunday. The lady who normally sits next to me was there, despite not feeling all that great. She had been out last week. I wore my new "blingy" Bob Mackie purple cardigan, and received several compliments on it. I had worn it yesterday to the party, and I received compliments there as well. I'm very glad I decided to purchase it.

After church, I changed and DH and I went to the gym. I'm trying not to pat myself on the back too much over doing that on my birthday. LOL The gym wasn't too crowded, which was good. DH and I may go out to dinner today, but I wasn't up for lunch. So we just had our lunch

I don't know if I posted this yesterday, but I have water -- it is a temporary thing, but I can't tell you how much better I feel having water again. The plumber said that there is no need for us to change our trip plans, so I guess we will travel to Maryland next week. He will need to dig up the yard, and turn off the water, so it is probably better if we aren't here. Sounds like phase one of the repairs won't be too costly, but I'm still concerned about the rest that needs to be done.

While it would be lovely if the repairs were covered by insurance, I don't think that the outside repairs (like the wall), will be covered. This sort of thing happened at a previous house in Maryland (different sort of pipe, but similar issue), and the insurance company would only cover things inside the house. They were nice about it, but I think that is pretty normal. And, I hope nothing needs to be done inside the house. We will see. Turns out that several neighbors have had water problems like this. I know I'm terribly spoiled, but doing without water was quite upsetting to me. And, seeing all that water flying out of the house was awful.

Glad you are feeling better Jean, but do take care of yourself.

Very sorry to hear about your back problem Susan. Hope you can have some pain relief soon. I have been using a laptop for several years, but it isn't too slow. I am easily frustrated with slow computers or when this one loses internet connection strength.

That is funny about how much cleaning you got done when your internet was down Gayle. I know I spend way too much time on the computer, and I could accomplish more if I just backed off a bit. Another thing for me to work on.

Hope you enjoyed your lunch/dinner and concert Arlene. I'm happy your new dog is working out well.

Praying for your friends with BC LindaR. Do take care of yourself. I don't have a cousin with the same birthday, but my late MIL and her twin sister were born on the same day as was the son of one of my ex's cousins. I have kept in contact with some of my ex's relatives, but not that cousin who was sort of an odd duck as they say.

Glad you enjoyed the carriage rides Kathleen, and I hope you are rested. Please don't push yourself too much.

Waves to twinny, Marijane, Rosa, Sonya, Val, Karen, and all of our posters and readers.

Thanks again for the nice birthday wishes.

Hugs,

Linda
