SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (Thursday, 10/23)

Good Morning Ladies! I have a pretty busy day ahead, so I thought I would get us started. I have "classes" most of the afternoon, and I plan to go to Curves this morning. What are your plans for today.

It is a nice sunny day here. Cool in the morning, but it may get pretty warm/hot this afternoon. They are still predicting hot weather for Saturday, but hopefully I'll be okay in the parade in the morning. It does get hotter later in the day.

Hope Jean has a good day at work and feels okay. Waves to Kathleen, Arlene, twinny (hope things are okay today), Marijane, Susan, LindaR, Karen, Rosa, Gayle, Sonya, Val, Nancy, Gina, Kathy, Jules, and all of our posters and readers.

Have a good day everyone!

Hugs,

Linda

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (Thursday, 10/23)

LL, Thanks for getting us going today. It started raining after lunch today. We have had a beautiful Indian Summer & it should start again tomorrow & go through the weekend. Hope the weather cooperates for your costume. It sounds like a fun parade to be in.

I didn't sleep well last night as I knew I had to get up early to go to mom's. DH got up early too so we could leave for our DD's as soon as were had the eye drops all in. Help for mom's eye drops starts next Monday at 7:00 a.m. That will be a great relief for me as my duty will start at 11:00 each day. Right now I need sleep to get me through this week. My brother will be coming tonight & again on Sunday, so that is really helpful.

Got to dear DD's around 8:15 & had her go on their computer to sign my DH up for his new medical & drug plans for next year. He is quite simple as he only has 1 Dr. & 3 prescription drugs. She could sign him up for a good price. When it comes to my situation, we couldn't do much on the computer as my life is much more complicated than DH's. I will need to talk to the specialist that called us a few weeks ago to see what she thinks the best plans for me are. I did call the ADRC from our hometown today & also made an appt. to speak with her next week. Hopefully I will find a plan that fits my needs. It was so easy when DH & I were on Frio Lay for our secondary insurances.

As we were leaving DD's home, the A/C went on full blast but all we got out was very hot air. Since we were near the Kia dealer, we stopped there. As soon as DH turned the engine off & back on again all was right. WHEW! We don't need problems before we trade next month.

Hugs to all of you.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (Thursday, 10/23)

Shopaholics---ok, that caught my eye! I've been shopping via QVC since the late 90's;before the iPad but that is my primary mode of shopping now. Recently I began viewing the forums. I was looking for product input similar to a product review. I found so many negative posts and then I found yours. Thank you for standing out with open, honest, caring words. I've dealt with plenty of negativity and was surprised how prevalent it is in the forums. I don't face anything in life with negativity....especially shopping!!?? I've read a few of your threads and I can see others are facing the day without the negative outlook. I'm recently retired from a job I loved, forced into early retirement because of medical/health issues so believe me, between the justice system(career) and chronic health issues, I know all too much about the "bad" in our world. It's refreshing to see others who are dealing with life's challenges and no matter how difficult, continuing to move forward... And doing their best to enjoy this roller coaster of life.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (Thursday, 10/23)

Hi girls! It's a beautiful day out; seems like we're having an Indian Summer, with temps supposed to go back into the low 80s in a few days. I have no plans to go anywhere apart from taking the babies for their walk; hopefully I'll get the kitchen scrubbed down today and a heavy-duty vacuuming done as well. I had planned to do them yesterday, but pooped out; I'm still feeling less than great.

I went to my mechanics' yesterday and asked about the headlight replacement...and took them some pumpkin donuts that I had made. I did find the part on eBay for $29.99 and free shipping, printed out the page, and asked him if that was the right part, and if their price was comparable. He told me to get it from eBay as it was much less than they'd charge...and if I brought it in when I got it, he'd put it on for free. {#emotions_dlg.thumbup} (He's no doubt hoping for more baked goods...which is fine with me.) Just for the heck of it I checked Amazon when I got home, not knowing if they carried car parts, and found it for $15 with free shipping, so of course I'll get it from there. It pays to shop around!

What's your costume this year, Linda? Weren't you a carrot last year?

Twinny, sorry you didn't get a good sleep - hopefully things will get better for you soon; I'm still praying for you.

Hi Rosa - hope you're doing OK - praying for you as well. (And all my friends from here, actually.)

Nothing much else going on; I do have a trip to Trader Joe's to look forward to next month. A friend is taking her birthday off from work, so we're going then and plan to eat at a drive-in that Guy Fieri had raved about on his show. I have to stock up on TJ's dog kibble - it's the only kind my spoiled brats really like. {#emotions_dlg.rolleyes} I keep telling them they eat better than probably over a billion humans in this world, but do they care? Of course not! {#emotions_dlg.laugh}

Have a blessed day, everyone!

Good morning ladies! It is beautiful here as well, nearly needed a jacket and I guess it rained a bit overnight but it's warming up now. Twinny I've had that problem with AC 2x in the past month, both times I hadn't used the car for a couple days and the AC kicked in within 5 minutes.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (Thursday, 10/23)

Hello Ladies, the sun just came out here after two days of rain....a lot of the leaves are coming down...it's been windy. This morning noticed the deer ate some of my flowers I had in pots....wonder if it was the little fawn I caught yesterday eating them...I had put a video on fB of him eating.

. I hope your costume is not too hot for you LindaL...how long does the parade last? prayers for your DH for his procedure this Monday, hope it will fix his problem and he recovers quick.

Kathleen is your DH coming down this weekend...sorry to hear he is not happy at his new job...hopefully things will get better for him. I know how much a drag it is to be apart all week. how's your DD doing in school?

Welcome Jusge Liz, we are a nice group of ladies here ....check back any time.

Twinny happy to hear you are getting some relief help with the drops for your Mom. hopefully next week the SS will be a lot more help. You need your rest too.

I keep reading aboutnTrader Joe's from LimdaL and Arlene and I keep saying to myself I have to get there, I have one in my town and another in the next. I had gotten a flyer from them a few weeks ago....all about pumpkins products. We had Japanese for, lunch so not too hungry for tonight.....I have some barley beef and veg. soup I made the other day so I think that will be it for supper. I plan on watching some of the solar eclipse on my iPad this afternoon, I think it starts 5 pm my time. Have a nice rest of the afternoon everyone......Marijane

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (Thursday, 10/23)

Linda--Thank you for starting the thread. I do hope Curves and your classes went well. You are definitely keeping yourself in shape physically and mentally with your exercise and mental stimulation of the classes.

Twinny--I'm glad help with your mother will soon be available. It has been physically demanding as well as emotionally to deal with the demands of frequent attention. I do ho9pe the AC holds up until the trade.

Arlene--You are so correct that it pays to shop around to get the best price regardless of the item we want to purchase. I've never been to a Trader Joe's as we don't have one in our area. Your baking skills have a knack of getting things done for you. Smiley Happy

Judge Liz--Welcome to our thread. Please continue to post with us. We try to be a no bash thread, so hopefully, you will find this a great place to check in and share whatever you are comfortable with sharing.

Kathleen--It is great to be able to live in an area in which a jacket is almost optional. I remember Susan posting yesterday about the coming Fall and Winter and the lack of Summer. There were days I wore a jacket in the Summer but then I am also cold natured so the slightest wind gives me goose bumps and chills.

Marijane--The soup sounds great for dinner. I had forgotten about the eclipse. I haven't seen much mentioned about it lately but then I haven't been as attentive as usual.

I did work today and it was a breeze of an assignment. I was able to come home a little early. I found a message on my answering machine regarding an appointment for the consultation for the colonoscopy. It is on November 12 in the late afternoon which is a potential work day. Too bad it couldn't have been on November 11 which is a holiday with no potential work.

I got my Polar Fleece blanket TSV, so that will be ready to go for the Winter. Right now, I have the fleece sheets from last year on the bed as it has gotten cold enough to use them again.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (Thursday, 10/23)

Linda, I am trying to figure out what to make for supper. DH is on his way home and I got a recipe in my email for roasted pork chops that sounded delicious.

2 of my bath and body orders delivered today and my American Eagle tops (4, and a couple gift items so I could get the free shipping). So I went home at lunch and there were 3 boxes and 3 bags in the mail!! They split up an order into 2 bags and 1 box. I was glad I went home - DH would think I've been spending all kinds of money. I tried on the tops and love them all, but they are a little short. Need another opinion before I take one back. One is a keeper for sure and 2 are up in the air. All were on sale but no sense keeping if I don't love it.

I've been reading the "Recovering Shopaholic" website and thinking about going through my clothes again. I know I TALK about that a lot but my hangers are all full and it's getting to be a bit much to keep up with my clothes.

Marijane I still have not been to Trader Joes. Linda and I talked about it but we haven't made it to the one in Austin. DD is doing good in school but anatomy is kicking a part of her anatomy Smiley Happy and she is worried she can't keep her GPA up where it is supposed to be. She is talking about moving out of Gram's and in with some friends and it sounds like it might be a good deal for her.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (Thursday, 10/23)

Jean we often have to have a light jacket because of all the blasting AC, especially this time of year when it's still hot out but cools down at night. I carry a wrap in my car all the time because of it.

DH just called me and he's almost home, and stopping to buy my pork chops so I can cook them for supper.
