OK, Anybody Watching OUTLANDER?

Want to go to Scotland with me? After watching the Wedding segment last week and being of Scottish ancestry, I went into the other room where DH was watching golf and turned his tv off and said "OK. Listen Up. You are not meeting my expectations after 40 years of marriage and you are to watch the Wedding on Outlander and I want to see you in a kilt next Saturday night!" He just sat there and then said "ok, but can I at least watch the last hole of this play off?" Such passion in modern day men. I think Jamie is beautiful but I love Dougall, his uncle. He really is deep water and boy is he crazy about Claire. I love when he whispered in her ear that she should share.. Sharing is good. Am I the only one who thought the wedding night sequence was so wonderfully done. Not pornoesk; beautiful romantic wedding night, for both of them.{#emotions_dlg.wub}

Re: OK, Anybody Watching OUTLANDER?

Hi, Happy Lady! I've read all the books and half way through the 8th, Written in My Heart's Own Blood. I just love them all. Yes, I've been watching and The Wedding took my breath away. My DH watched the first 6 and passed on the last two. I wanted to keep all that were recorded and he erased them all. I wanted to watch them again because you pick up things the second (and I gather the. 6th time around from her FB page,). There are people who have Outlander watching parties where they dress in period costume, eat food from that time etc. just like people did with Downton Abbey!! as I recall, we live in the same area of Atlanta?? Best, Fran

As you can see from my name, I am a Fan. I have read all Diana Gabaldon's books several times, listened to them on audio a number of times.

I am from Atlanta, but don't live there now.

Wishing you Happy Series Watching!

As soon as I saw your name, that did it. No new shows until April 2015. What will I do? I may not live that long! Yikes!! But I'll watch the reruns, over and over and over. This so unlike me. I do not read romance novels; I'm hardcore murder mysteries and espionage thrillers. But this is done so well.. Guess I'll have to buy her books now. Thanks..

Outlander is one of the best TV shows! Sorry there are only 8 episodes but more are coming- The leads are perfect especially the actress. (And no commercial breaks) The books are considered to be fantasy-sci fi. Stephen King even reads these.

Oh, the books are WAY better than the series. You need to read them in order. And, they are not really classified as Romance novels. I am not a Romance novel person at all.

They are everything you could imagine about history, medicine, love, parenting, engineering, war, and time-travel written by a PhD in Quantitative Ecology with degrees in Marine Biology and Zoology. {#emotions_dlg.wub}

Truly great books.

I'm watching the series with a friend of mine. We are behind though...I think we watched RENT last time. Enjoying it and glad that it has been renewed. Can't wait to watch the last few shows!!

Me too WB, I've read them over and over. I've been to Scotland several times, kept wishing/ not wishing I'd slip through time, but it did seem as though it might be possible.

Re: OK, Anybody Watching OUTLANDER?

I'd like it a lot better if they didn't change things for no good reason. It's one thing to leave out things to save time, it's another to flat out make changes just because they feel like it.

I mean really, one of things that annoyed me the most about the wedding episode was the fact that, he didn't give her a ring at the wedding. And when he later goes to get a ring, when he can, it results in a big fight and Claire realizes how much she is coming to care for Jamie. The fact that someone other than Jamie gets the ring and designs it is just wrong. Plus they left out some of the best parts to add in a bunch of stuff about her and Frank that isn't even in the book and serves no purpose. Why didn't they just keep the fact that she and Frank were married in the same Church? What's with the made up elopement? There have been a lot of changes that make no sense at all to me. Both before and after this episode.
