What was the first piece of jewelry you bought from Joan?

For me, it was her Spike Yorkie pin. I thought it might have been one of her bees, but after going through my jewelry box I remember it was the adorable Spike pin. For those of you who may not have watched QVC in the in the late 80's ('86 or '87) I remember vividly flipping thru the channels and there was Joan Rivers selling her jewelry. Little Spike was sitting right next to her in the chair and I thought how nice that QVC was allowing her to bring her dog on set. Since I also had a Yorkie at that time I couldn't resist buying the pin. It came in about a week and it was so cute and well made. It still looks great to this day! It was because of Joan that I became hooked on QVC! LOL ${#emotions_dlg.laugh}$

I bought her egg extenders for the bracelet - I still have every piece of jewelry I purchased from her, starting back in the late '80s - they are so well made and still in fashion.

I am stunned by how sudden this was. And can't believe Joan is gone.

I'm trying to remember. All I recall is it was my mom who was already an avid Q watcher and had bought me several gifts of Joan's products that I loved. But those I recall first were her beauty products...like ones she'd have in a little gift bag, clutch, purse...with lip gloss, lip liner etc. And I loved them. Her lip glosses were great. (as was her nail polishes, which I still use; many I've had for years and they are still like new.) She did put the Quality in Q. For sure. Then both my mom and I would tune in "together" from our separate homes, while calling each other back and forth..."Do you like that?" "Do you want that for your birthday?" "Ok, let me call...click" ...lol...back and forth we'd watch and call each other, laughing at her together. We'd always imitate her, calling each other saying "Everything is GORGEOUS!" "How gorgeous is that?!" I think I started buying her watches (loved them) first for jewelry...but also have some earrings too. My favorite watch to this day was a cushion cut, big bold face, white croco band, surrounded by crystals in silver-tone (which she rarely did, usually did yellow gold)...looks like platinum and diamonds. Took my mom to see her about 4 years ago, as a surprise. We had a great time. I was mortified at how raunchy it was...heard words that night in front of my 80-something mom, we never heard together..haha...I thought what must she be thinking. But she laughed and enjoyed it. We were up close in a casino lounge. All my mom kept saying afterward..."Didn't Joan look great?!!...She's so funny."

ps. Always wanted to call in when Joan was on air...maybe tell her about my mom enjoying her...but was too afraid I'd start babbling on air and they'd have to get the hook to get me off. LOL...and that probably would have happened. Best I shared it here.

So sad. She'll be missed for sure.

My mom has a ton of jewelry from Joan. I know she has a lot of her bee pins displayed in a case and they always look so pretty.

I bought one of her first "interchangeable" pieces of jewelry. It is a necklace with a cage type pendant and about 6 "jewels" to put in that cage. So unique at the time.

I remember her friendship with Kathy Levine and her bringing her dogs to QVC. Kathy used to say that Spike and the others were not exactly friendly, as they were one person dogs.

It is nice to see the hosts who worked with her, honor her. Others, still wrote a heartfelt note.
