What is it that makes us watch shopping channels?

I'm puzzled by this.

I rarely watch tv, but if I do, it's likely to be QVC.

I can't quite figure out why, since I don't purchase that much.

I do only watch my favorite hosts, so I think there's something to that... I find their presence familiar and comforting.
